Remains of a woman in a 6th century tomb

Late yesterday afternoon our sweet Poppy girl entered Kitty Heaven. She was diagnosed with pancreatitis in early March of this year. She let us know yesterday that it was time to let her go. She will be missed by all of her family and her best friend (and sister) Jasmine. She would have been 16 years old in April.

The RIP (Repair in Place) building is part of the fantastic Nevada Northern Railway National Historic Landmark. It is a museum where one can wander all over the grounds and peer inside some of the buildings. Prior to when this building was built in 1944-45 repairs were done outside 356 days/year. Today, old train cars and other restoration projects are performed and stored in this huge building.

ARR 3006 leads two sisters and a string of rip-rap loaded air dumps for an ongoing project a few miles north of Healy. To the right of the train is the old Healy Engine House, now demolished, unfortunately. The peak in the background is Mt Healy I believe. A day spent with the work train can be an exercise in futility or an extremely satisfying day of photography, fortunately, this was the latter.

African leopards (Panthera pardus pardus) are one of the two big cats, along with the lion and included in the big five of Africa, that inhabit the continent of Africa.

Queen Lorian, a very famous and senior female leopard, was found dead yesterday morning, mauled to death by either Lions or another Leopard. She has left behind a 14 month old son, Roho who shall to fend for himself in the wild.

This was my latest sighting of her during a photography Safari on an early morning game drive in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya.

I'm glad I managed to get a shot of this century-old classic when I did. It was demolished yesterday. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/w-a-gough-violin-16th-aven...

"Ripping off layers / exposes nothing but the background"

One of many mages taken on a camping trip in Surat Thani last year during a heavy storm and one that sadly can no longer be repeated after this area of jungle was recently cleared. The muted tones reflect my current mood and probably better suit the image anyway. I'm slowly putting together a 'mood' wall and this one will go off to the printer tomorrow and hopefully become part of it. That's if I don't cheer up by then which would be rather annoying..

Thank you for passing through :)

Ukrainian Air Force pilot Colonel Oleksandr Oksanchenko, “Grey Wolf”.

Departing Fairford

Sadly was killed after his jet was shot down near the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv.

He has died a hero, and I am sure every one would like to remember him for his superb displays.

RIP Oleksandra.

Madame Tussauds

New York City

The only photo I managed to take of Queen Elizabeth II. This was taken at Tweedbank Station at the opening of the Borders Railway on 9 September 2015. She arrived quite late as her flight had been delayed by bad weather at Balmoral...In Edinburgh she transferred to a special steam hauled train.

Taking this picture wasn't easy, standing as I was in a large crowd, holding the camera with a long lens above my head! (by the way I love the buttons on her jacket!)

Thank you ma'am and rest in peace, gone but not forgotten.

Sad to announce the passing of our beloved bear.

Condolences to staff.

Art, you will always be within our hearts and in the hearts of many others that loved you and as close as a beautiful memory. I know that you and Joan were planning a trip to Canada as soon as COVID19 restrictions were lifted, we will be attending the virtual funeral as it is live streamed tomorrow. Art, you will be missed, may you rest in peace.
