Em got a new bike and very kindly lent me her old one for the festival. I can’t tell you how much I loved having a bike and using it to go pretty much everywhere for 8 days. It rocked! At night I tied seed lights around the handle bars which was pretty. Next time I’m a need a pimp my ride!
I mean it’s even got a kick stand! It’s been a very long time since I had a bike with a kickstand! So useful.
Oh and a big shout out to Rick for giving it a check over & oil & lube before hand, thanks dude!

The leaves are finally starting to turn here in Columbia. After a rainiy Saturday it was nice to see the sunshine on Sunday and time to get the bikes out and go for a ride. There are many miles of bike trails here in Columbia and we live close to the MKT trail. A lot of the trails here are old railroad beds that have been converted to hiking and biking trails. It was nice to get out and enjoy some sunshine and we even saw a Bald Eagle (just couldn't get the camera out fast enough).
It takes a bit of courage to fly amidst a thunderstorm nearby. And I was lucky to capture the lightning in my frame as I was flying near Singapore Flyer. The lightning flashes were too near that I only hovered around 30m high.

There are plenty of interactive areas, including dancing, a ferris wheel, haunted houses, and a creepy Nazgul ritual (which we gate-crashed). The train stops at different stations so you can get off and explore.
When storm clouds with a threat of lightning moved into town at the same time as the carnival, I was reminded of Ray Bradbury's novel "Something Wicked This Way Comes." It was just dark enough for the lights to show up against the moody sky.

Top of the Sea Swing ride at the Santa Cruz boardwalk. Though I enjoy riding roller coasters, I learned from a young age that amusement park rides that spin in circles like this give me motion sickness, so I don't ride on them.

Owning a horse is a huge commitment, probably even more than owning a dog. Turning the horse out every morning, mucking out, grooming, riding - then put them back in the stable at night. One of fmy riends has been doing that every day since she got her horse - which is now 37 years old.
This one goes past my house most mornings.
