You, me or them
We always put on a mask, A mask to conceal our self
Beneath the skin, lays the true us.
All are same, fresh and red.
It is often a challenge to convert the chaos in a forest into a scene that is pleasing. And yet, it is always there in front of us, just waiting to be uncovered. Michelangelo was quoted as saying he "never carved a statue, but instead chipped the excess away to show us what was alway there".
Perhaps there is a little bit of that desire in all of us, as we too attempt to tell our stories through what was always there.
For this Tuesday I would like to share with all my friends this beautiful image of a Hibiscus Blossom, that opened up to show off it's Beauty for us to all enjoy.

Thanks for all your wonderful support on my work in Photography,
Gaston (aka Gasssman).
A tree says: A kernel is hidden in me, a spark, a thought, I am life from eternal life.
The attempt and the risk that the eternal mother took with me is unique,
unique the form and veins of my skin, unique the smallest play of leaves in my branches
and the smallest scar on my bark.
I was made to form and reveal the eternal in my smallest special detail.

Harvest Moon revealing itself over the mountains overlooking Lake Okanagan. Press L for full page.
This is a composite of two shots: I superimposed the background night sky as a second shot since at 1/320 the background surrounding the moon was dead black as shown in the tree line. The moon and tree line portion of the shot is pretty much as taken.
I take this shot once a year as the Harvest Moon comes up over the lake directly in front of us so I can set tripod up on my balcony for the event. With the mountains only about 20km away and the moon 340,400 km away, the magnification of the moon by the 600mm against the closer tree line is amplified in what seems like an unnatural size difference.
Getting old is revealing. I have never liked horses but in the last couple of years I find them very enjoyable to photograph. I am beginning to understand why my dad as he aged loved spinach out of a can, hot peppers and salt in little piles on his food....
Another day, another abstract rock study from my time on Arran. I rarely shoot abstracts in direct sunlight, preferring the soft, even light of an overcast day. However, particularly when away on a trip, you have to work with what you're given. This particular day was sunny, my least favourite conditions. But as the day progressed, the harsh overhead sunlight gave way to low, angled lighting, revealing, form, colour and texture in the rock.

Leilani Lingerie by Just Because
When I slip into Leilani, I feel as if I’ve stepped into a secret romance between light and lace. Satin smooths across my skin like a lover’s caress, while the delicate embroidery clings to me with an intimacy that feels both timeless and new. The corseted silhouette embraces me tenderly, sculpting every curve as though it were designed only for me.
Leilani is not just lingerie—it is a love letter written in fabric and thread. Every detail is designed to stir longing, to capture the gaze, and to invite closeness with quiet but undeniable passion.
Lace — A Heritage of Romance
The lace that adorns Leilani carries with it centuries of artistry and devotion. Born in Renaissance Italy and perfected in the ateliers of France, lace was once considered the very language of desire—gracing queens, brides, and courtesans alike. Its floral arabesques symbolized longing and intimacy, delicate beauty meant to be admired up close. In Leilani, this history is reborn, draped across the body like a whisper of romance.
PBR Innovation — A Living Fabric
Through the artistry of Physically Based Rendering (PBR), Leilani feels alive in every setting. Satin catches the glow of candlelight, lace softens into shadow and sparkle, and textures move with a realism that turns every gesture into poetry. It is lingerie that seems to breathe with me, following the contours of intimacy.
The HUD — My Palette of Moods
The Leilani HUD allows me to shift effortlessly between moments. Dark tones carry mystery, deep reds ignite passion, and blush hues soften into innocence. Sheer and opaque layers let me play between modesty and revelation, revealing as much or as little as my heart desires. Each choice is a reflection of mood, an invitation into romance.
Perfected for Every Form
Exquisitely fitted for:

When I wear Leilani, I do not simply dress—I awaken a story of desire, devotion, and elegance that lingers long after the last clasp is undone.
The picture shows a small house that was once painted in a beautiful shade of turquoise, now in a state of disrepair and being consumed by the forces of nature. The house is located in a small town named Puyuhuapi, in the Chilean Patagonia, surrounded by lush greenery and tall trees.
The turquoise paint that once covered the house has faded and cracked, revealing the bare wood beneath. The windows are boarded up and covered in dirt, making it difficult to see inside.
The surrounding grass is overgrown and unkempt, reaching up to the roof of the house. The moisture from the nearby fjord and river and constant rain has caused mold to grow on the walls and roof, giving the house a greenish tinge.
Despite its dilapidated state, there is a certain picturesque charm to the scene. The house seems to blend in with the natural surroundings, becoming one with the lush vegetation that surrounds it. In the background, the misty mountains loom in the distance, adding to the sense of isolation and abandonment.
Overall, the picture portrays a sense of decay and neglect, but also a haunting beauty that can be found in the natural world.

Thanks for the comments, faves and visits
This image captures the exquisite beauty of a fully bloomed white rose in its natural setting. The flower takes center stage, its layers of pristine petals unfurling in a delicate spiral, revealing the intricate architecture of nature's design. At its heart, a cluster of golden stamens peeks out, adding a subtle touch of warmth to the cool white tones.
The rose's pure white petals contrast beautifully with the vibrant green leaves surrounding it. These leaves frame the bloom, their pointed edges and rich hue providing a perfect backdrop that accentuates the flower's ethereal quality. In the soft focus background, hints of other white blooms can be seen, suggesting a lush rose garden in full summer glory.
The close-up perspective allows viewers to appreciate the velvety texture of the petals and the subtle variations in white - from creamy ivory to brilliant snow - as light plays across the flower's surface. This intimate view invites contemplation of the rose's timeless symbolism of purity, love, and new beginnings.
The image encapsulates a moment of perfect natural beauty, showcasing the rose at the peak of its bloom – a fleeting instant of floral perfection captured for eternity. It serves as a reminder of the quiet elegance found in gardens and the simple yet profound joy that flowers can bring to our lives.

Visions of beauty they do flow
Reflecting the skies down below
In the lake, wide and deep
Woken from it's watery sleep
By the rays of solar light
That rule the day and conquer the night
Revealing visions that do descend
To fill the waters , from end to end
Visions of the beauty, of the skies
Reflected beautifully before all eyes
Newburgh is a large stone-built village on the wide sandy estuary of the River Ythan, close to the point at which it is bridged by the A975. he origins of the village date back to 1261 when a charter was drawn up by Lord Sinclair establishing a settlement here. A little later it acquired the Chapel of the Holy Rood and St Thomas the Martyr in Inch Road. The Chapel is long gone, but the Udny Family Mausoleum which formed part of it can still be seen in the Holyrood Cemetery. art of the name of the original chapel also survives, in the imposing Holyrood Chapel on Main Street. This was originally built as a school in 1838, and the clock tower was added in 1892. The village itself developed as a centre for salmon fishing, and later as a small port. By the 1850s there was a steady traffic of boats and barges calling at the newly built quays on the River Ythan. And by the 1880s there was a small fleet of sailing vessels based here, alongside a dozen resident fishing boats. A little earlier, in 1828, Newburgh became the first port in Scotland to have a Lifeboat Station, then called the Shipwreck Institution. The RNLI, as the Institution became, based a lifeboat in Newburgh until 1961, when it moved to Peterhead. In the 1950s Newburgh remained an active port with quays and a mill. Much of its economic base had declined by 1970, but the corner was turned - as with so many settlements in north east Scotland - with the discovery of oil under the North Sea. Newburgh, with its attractive setting and within commuting range of both Aberdeen and Peterhead rapidly became a desirable place to live. Today's Newburgh is an active and thriving settlement. At its centre is the Udny Arms Hotel providing accommodation, great views over the River Ythan, and an excellent restaurant. Beyond the River Ythan lies one of the oddest landscapes in Britain. Forvie Sands comprises an area of dunes some three miles long and a mile wide. At its heart are the remains of Forvie Kirk, built in the 1100s. This is all that can now be seen of the village of Forvie, once a thriving community but buried by shifting dunes during a storm in 1413. www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/newburgh/newburgh/
Sands of Forvie Nature Reserve: www.visitscotland.com/info/towns-villages/forvie-national... Shifting sands and seabirds The stark beauty of empty sand dunes is complemented by the call of eider ducks, wafting like gentle gossiping across the Ythan estuary. With the constant shifting of the dunes, layers of history have come and gone, revealing the half buried remains of a twelfth century church. Bird life is plentiful and you can watch the summer acrobatics of diving terns or the determined stabbing of the carrot-coloured beaks of wading oystercatchers.
The common Hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius), or hippo, is a large, mostly herbivorous, semiaquatic mammal and ungulate native to sub-Saharan Africa. It is one of only two extant species in the family Hippopotamidae, the other being the pygmy hippopotamus. The name comes from the ancient Greek for "river horse". After the elephant and rhinoceros, the common hippopotamus is the third-largest type of land mammal and the heaviest extant artiodactyl.
Common hippos are recognisable by their barrel-shaped torsos, wide-opening mouths revealing large canine tusks, nearly hairless bodies, columnar legs and large size. Despite its stocky shape and short legs, it is capable of running 30 km/h over short distances.
The common hippopotamus inhabits rivers, lakes and mangrove swamps, where territorial bulls preside over a stretch of river and groups of five to thirty females and young. During the day, they remain cool by staying in the water or mud; reproduction and childbirth both occur in water. They emerge at dusk to graze on grasses. While hippopotamuses rest near each other in the water, grazing is a solitary activity and hippos are not territorial on land.
The hippopotamus is among the most dangerous animals in the world as it is highly aggressive and unpredictable. They are threatened by habitat loss and poaching for their meat and ivory canine teeth.
These two massive male Hippo's were photographed settling their differences in the good old fashioned way in the Hyena dam at Nairobi National Park, Kenya.

This photograph captures a small religious shrine embedded into the wall of a narrow alley in Palermo, Italy. The shrine is housed in a rectangular structure with a beige frame, topped by a small cross and adorned with a golden star-shaped wire decoration. Inside, a figurine of the Virgin Mary or a saint is visible, protected by a black metal grate. The shrine is surrounded by a vibrant display of artificial flowers in various colors, including reds, yellows, whites, and greens, which provide a stark contrast to the aged and weathered appearance of the surrounding wall.
The wall itself tells a story of time and decay. Its surface is marked by cracks, patches, and peeling plaster, revealing layers of underlying brickwork and concrete. These textures add a sense of authenticity and history to the scene, characteristic of many older Mediterranean urban environments. The juxtaposition of the shrine's decorative beauty with the rough, imperfect wall creates a compelling visual contrast.
To the right of the shrine, a rusted metal roller door is visible, adding another layer of urban character to the image. The door, with its faded paint and scratches, suggests an old storefront or storage space, now seemingly abandoned or seldom used. This element enhances the feeling of quietness and introspection in the alleyway, inviting passersby to pause and reflect on the significance of the shrine amidst the unassuming setting.
At ground level, small patches of greenery emerge from cracks in the pavement, signaling nature's persistence in an otherwise urban landscape. These plants, along with the weathered textures and the delicate adornments of the shrine, create a harmonious blend of humanity, spirituality, and nature. The photograph encapsulates the charm and timelessness of Palermo’s streets, where sacred traditions coexist with the organic wear of everyday life.

Apryl Wiese, from whom I learned something revealing about my photography; Akakibby, my partner in crime, exploration and great places to eat lunch; but especially Austie1, whose kindness, giving and friendship I have quickly come to prize. I consider myself immensely lucky to have run into you that day at Gatorland, David!! :-) Bless you all, wonderful Flickr friends!!
The day that I first met Austie1, he shared with me that he had discovered an easily seen bald eagle nest that was nearby and offered to show it to me. I have only ever seen a live one in captivity, so jumped at the chance. Last Saturday, my pals and I got to visit these magnificent birds at their home. We saw one adult and one juvenile that Austie estimates to be about 11 weeks old. The adult was just returning to the nest as we arrived, carrying a large fish, which it picked apart and fed to the young ones. Eventually, the active juvenile jumped to the top of the nest and then began jumping from branch to branch, learning to fly. It was quite a sight!! I can't really put it into words. Here, the juvenile is perched on a pine branch, practicing spreading its wings in preparation for flight.
