The famous “Binns Clock” on the corner of Princes Street and Hope Street in Edinburgh has been restored. The building used to be occupied by the department store Binns which was taken over by House of Fraser in 1953. The clock was installed in 1960 and was an iconic meeting place. The Frasers store closed in 2018 and the building is currently being converted into the Johnnie Walker Experience. The clock restoration work was carried out by the Cumbria Clock Company who also repaired the musical mechanism which plays traditional Scottish tunes every half an hour as the kilted figures march out of the clock. In keeping with tradition, the Highland figures will emerge to the musical accompaniment every seven and 37 minutes past the hour.

After several years in isolation in Poduene depot in Sofia, ex-BDZ 44 083 now runs a second life. Restored inclined lift at the National Slate Museum, Gilfach Ddu in Padarn Country Park, Llanberis

The museum is housed in the former workshop buildings of Dinorwic Quarry on the banks of the Llyn Padarn opposite Llanberis at the foot of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), the highest mountain in Wales. Here, in the second largest slate quarry in the world, the fissile sedimentary rock was extracted from the end of the 18th century until 1969. Following the decline of the Welsh slate industry, tourism is the main source of income for the locals.

What happens to imagination in a logic world that makes people work until they get sick, long for horrible things that they don´t need and walking around feeling bad about themselves? What happens to the human soul when imagination is forgotten?

This image has been waiting a long time to be edited! I shot it over two years ago. Everything was well planned, from the prop and costume to the location. But I never knew how to edit it. Until today, which I´m very happy for :D The edit isn´t what I thought it would be when I first shot the image, but that´s what´s amazing with Photoshop- that you never know where it will end!

A few days ago I spent some time working on this image, I choose a selection of textures that I liked together, I generally faffed around until I was happy. Clicked on save and Photoshop crashed :(

During the war, the tunnels of Piccadilly Circus were used to store expensive works of art from the London museums and galleries, unknown to anyone until they were unearthed after the war. Here an old photograph shows them being carried out during rush hour, and note the guy carrying this expensive artwork .. with a lit cigarette in his hand!!

In 2001 a 200 pound chuck of steel and concrete from the top of the aging Pigeon Point Lighthouse plummeted to the ground prompting the Coast Guard to close down the Pigeon Point Lighthouse tours to all but select visitors. To prevent further damage a steel cable was looped around the lighthouse and quickly began to drip rust on the pristine white walls of the tower. A chain link fence was erected around the lighthouse to keep visitors a safe distance. Even so the stunning beauty of California's tallest lighthouse still attracts thousands of visitors and photographers each year. This is an artistic rendering (mostly cleaning of the rust and removal of the chain link fence, of how Pigeon Point Lighthouse will likely appear once the planned restoration is finished.

The restoration of this car, which sits in a little park across the main street from the city offices, was done as an Eagle Scount project by a young man named Rick Martinez. he completed the project in 1993. Sadly, he only lived from 1978-1998. Quite an accomplishment.

This is the first of many new images from my time spent at a Flickr Gathering in upstate New York. You can read all about it and see LOTS of behind the scenes pictures AND a speed edit on my blog! :)

This beauty has been restored to it's original condition other than a few power upgrades to the flathead motor. Many like this one have been chopped rather than restored. I would think it would do well in a concours de elegance show. Althought ai can't blame the owner on a hot day like this was, but from my point of view as a photographer, it sure is a shame it was parked under some trees which cast some unwanted shadows on it. I would love to get it in a different place, but you have to do whatever is necessary to get the shot before the car gets away never to be seen again.
