There was a sign out in front of this old beauty that read "Another restoration project soon, from Restoration America". I've never heard of them before, but sure am glad someone's going to save this beauty. First thing I'd do is take down those cedars!
After enduing more than a century of exposure to the elements, the statue was in need of major resotration work that could not be completed while mounted on its innaccessible pertch on top of the Capitol Dome. During its six-month's restoration the statue underwent work that included the removal of corrosion, calk, and interior paint; repairs to the bronze; repatination and application of protective coatings of wax and laquer.
