Students are restoring a barn built between 1710 and 1750 with preservation carpentry skills.
To deal with the variable sizes and shapes of hewn and sawn timbers, the two main historical layout methods used were: scribe carpentry and square rule carpentry. Scribing was used throughout Europe, especially from the 12th century to the 19th century, and was brought to North America where it was common into the early 19th century. In a scribe frame, each timber will only fit in one place, so each timber has to be numbered. Square rule carpentry was developed in New England in the 18th century and features housed joints in main timbers to allow for interchangeable braces and girts.
On September 20, 2017, Edna Lockwood's existing topsides were lifted by crane to sit atop her new hull so shipwrights can begin to marry the two pieces and continue her historic restoration.
After working on Martin Luther for one week the restoration company finished cleaning and restoring the patina on the statue. It was then coated with multiple coats of hot and cold wax to help protect the metal. The next step in the restoration process will be the restoration of the base, which will have new stucco constructed to fix the existing structure. May 1, 2016. Photo by Aaron Lurth
More than 100 CBMM members joined Boatyard Manager Michael Gorman on Thursday, October 13, as he described how shipwrights and apprentices are shaping and carving the new hull for Edna Lockwood like they did more than 127 years ago, while enjoying drinks from a local brewery.
Guests were also asked to share what excited them the most about the historic restoration project. To learn more, visit cbmm.org or ednalockwood.org.
May 3, 2011 - Albany: Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced a revised and expedited timetable for completing the New York State Capitol restoration project following a review by the new management team at the Office of General Services.
In January, Governor Cuomo began a review of the scope of the project to find efficiencies that would allow the work to be completed ahead of schedule and under budget. The construction project has been proceeding for an extended period at significant cost and has posed operational delays and aesthetic issues for the historic Capitol, which is traditionally a sightseeing and tourist destination.

Some step what I made:
1. original
2. turn sepia to bw : Image/Mode/Grayscale (give best result)
3. fix damages and remove scratches: Main tool for scratches was Stamp tool. Main tool for damaged areas was copy paste with polyconal lasso.
4. turn bw to sepia: gradient map
5. build old style photo paper: Shape of edge is made with noise. Rest effect with Layer style tool.
(I using Photoshop 6.0)
