In diesem Sinne begrüßen wir mit den Betty Ford Boys heute Abend das Rat Pack der deutschen Beatproducer-Szene. Ihr Debut Album “Leaders of the Brew School“ dominiert seit seinem Erscheinen im August diesen Jahres die Top 10 einschlägiger Versandhäuser und ist bereits auf dem besten Weg ein echter Klassiker zu werden.
Als Solokünstler wissen Suff Daddy, Dexter und Brenk Sinatra schon lange wo der Bartel den Most holt. Kaum auszudenken, was passiert, wenn die drei zusammen die Bar entern.
Suff Daddy, der globtrottende Gin Connaisseur und Minimoog Player mit Adressen in Sydney, Berlin und Düsseldorf. Brenk Sinatra, der Wien-Kaisermühlen Homeboy, Westcoast Rapfanatic und Duzfreund von MC Eiht. Und last but not least Dexter, der Tripmaker und Platinproduzent mit Approbation aus 0711.
Drei Typen, die unterschiedlicher nicht sein könnten und von denen jeder mit seinem ganz eigenen Sound die Speaker poppt. Was sie verbindet ist eine gemeinsame Leidenschaft für dope geschnittene Beats und Hochprozentiges.
Unterstützung erhalten die Leaders oft the Brew School an diesem Abend unter anderem von Döll, dem Darmstädter Nachwuchsproduzent CØDA und der IDC DJ Crew.

Port House Antwerp, Belgium by Zaha Hadid Architects.
The Port House combines a new beam-shaped structure and a former fire brigade building into a new headquarter building for the Port Authority. The project is strategically located between city and harbour, with magnificent views over both the centre and the port from behind the articulate glass walls – some transparent, others reflective – in reference to the Antwerp diamond trade.
In early September 2012 Zaha Hadid gave the official order to begin construction work on Port House, the new headquarters for Antwerp Port Authority on the Kattendijk dock. The new Antwerp Port Authority headquarters will house approximately 500 staff in a single new location that comprises both a former fire station and a new extension. Together, these two entities form an impressive new landmark as the headquarters of the Antwerp Port Authority, overlooking both the city and the harbour. Staff and visitors arrive in the central atrium from where public counters, offices and meeting rooms in the existing building are directly accessible. The offices, meeting rooms, auditorium and panoramic restaurant in the new extension are accessible via panoramic lifts just off the central courtyard. Two underground levels of car and bicycle parking, the restoration and renovation of the existing building and the exterior landscaping of the site also form an integral part of the design. The new extension is positioned asymmetrically over the central courtyard, allowing light to enter the heart of the building. Leaving the existing structure untouched, it is supported by two sculpted concrete pillars that house stairs and lifts as well as a series of carefully placed steel columns that land in the courtyard. The new volume is enclosed by articulated surfaces of triangular glass panels which are slightly rotated with respect to one another to achieve ever-changing reflections that enhance its diamond shaped geometry. From the new building visitors will have a truly impressive view over the city as well as the port, so further strengthening the dialogue between the people of Antwerp and their port.

[There are 12 images associated with "The Garden Parasol".] Frederick Carl Frieseke (1874-1939), an American painter, spent most of his life in France. His art work shows his attention to light and to the simple daily actions of women, in particular. A brief discussion of this painting is at learn.ncartmuseum.org/artwork/the-garden-parasol/ The descriptive tag at the North Carolina Museum of Art reads as follows: "Frederick Frieseke's sumptuous confection of color evokes the serene pleasure of a summer afternoon. The setting is in the garden of the artist's home at Giverny, France, where Frieseke spent many summers as a near neighbor to Claude Monet. The painter poses his wife as a cultivated woman of leisure whose reading is interrupted by the arrival of a visitor--or visitors, for it is our arrival that prompts her to look up from her book. Any small drama that arises from our encounter, however, is upstaged by the vibrancy of the garden, and especially by the Japanese parasol that spices the scene with fiery, swirling colors."

Cineaste365 (December 27, 2013 - DAY 077) - For anyone who has watched the epic film "Himalaya", one can easily feel nothing but respect for filmmaker Eric Valli and the film crew for attempting something so challenging and also dangerous.
Eric Valli has lived in Nepal but he was not filming in a populated area with streets, his goal was to capture the upper Dolpa people who live in the mountains, where there are no roads, no vehicles (according to wikipedia, as of 2012, there is now one vehicle in the area) and people still follow their customs.
But it's the cultural tradition of capturing the trek that these people have in trading salt for wheat, crossing mountains with their villagers and yaks over long distances for weeks. In order for their villagers survival during the harsh three months of -15F temperatures.
But possibly aside from the environmental challenges for Valli and the film crew, the challenges of working with non-actors from the upper Dolpa district. People who were disturbed from their everyday routine for eight months and suffice to say, it was testing the patience of the villagers, especially village chief Thilen Lhondup who plays the main character Tinle.
To maintain a sense that even with this foreign film crew, to not lose face in front of his people and show that he is the boss. So, the film crew had to walk a fine line and it became a stressful situation, compounded by the fact that the film was shot so high up in the mountains that the film crew could only work five hours due to respiratory issues because they were not accustomed to the very high altitudes.
Also, there were no cars, no roads, so as the caravan had to walk, as did the film crew (in terrible weather conditions at times). The only way of getting equipment was via helicopter but even then, these were significant challenges.
So, it was surprising that "Himalaya" was even made, but Eric Valli and the film crew managed to pull it off and to create a film that captures the cultural traditions of those living in the remote mountain region of Dolpa.
But as the Himalaya surroundings play a major role with this film, it's also the people that brought this film to life. Thilen Lhondup was magnificent as the main protagonist and this village chief may not be a professional actor but somehow he looked as he was. He brings a variety of emotions to the film and seemed believable.
The film utilized two real actors, one being Gurgon Kyap who plays the role of the young adult Karma and actress Lhakpa Tsamchoe, who plays Passang's mother and also love interest for Karma. These two characters bring the romantic element for the film.
But "Himalaya" revolved around the character Tinle and also his grandson Passang, played by the very young Karma Wangel who brings a humorous side to the film because of his curiosity.
Overall, "Himalaya" is a film that I respect Eric Valli and the filmcrew for taking on major risk and challenges to get this film made. I respect Thilen Lhondup and the Dolpa villagers for allowing the filmmakers to film them especially for eight months straight. But what Valli was able to capture is a culture not many people know about or are familiar with. Their long-standing cultural traditions that have been practiced for many generations.
Attempting to get people (non-actors) from a remote village, filming in a remote area with a film crew having to endure high altitudes and terrible weather and trying to capture something so beautiful, deep and memorable is quite rare in cinema today and not sure if anything like this can ever be made ever again.
A visually stunning film, Eric Valli's "Himalaya" is highly recommended!

More than 300 people, including 70 New Jersey Civil Air Patrol Cadets, area Junior ROTC cadets; along with Boy and Girl Scouts, placed 3,000 wreaths on gravestones at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Wrightstown, New Jersey, Dec. 17, 2022. The wreath laying was part of the nationwide Wreaths Across America Day ceremony. Civil Air Patrol cadets from the Maj. Thomas B. McGuire Jr. Composite Squadron, Twin Pine Composite Squadron, Pinelands Composite Squadron, Allentown Composite Squadron, and the Jimmy Stewart Composite Squadron participated in the ceremony.
