An old favorite spiffed up a bit. This was one of the first photos I was halfway happy with when I ventured away from 35mm to digital. Unfortunately I had the camera set for low resolution and there isn't much of a file to work with. I don't normally do much alteration to my photos, besides bright/contrast and a little color correction. What you see is what you get for the most part, but I'm fooling around with a few oldies to improve my rather mediocre Photoshop skills.
Happy 2013!

Alpine Accentor. A nice "walk" with lots of heavy equipment, right under the summit of the Gran Sasso, gave me and my friend Davide, strong pains in my legs, but also the satisfaction of meeting again after 2 years this beautiful and always welcome guest of our mountains, that have been completely photographed in the open. ... who the hell was I kidding ... one on the list not to worry about any more here in 2019 :))
What better to take ... and eat as the first photo taken for this new year!
On the higher mountains the first snow has fallen, but here around this meander of river the last colors of autumn are resisting. I think it deserved a photo.
Sulle montagne più alte è caduta la prima neve, ma intorno a questo meandro del fiume resistono le ultime cromie autunnali; credo meritassero una foto.

Full resolution. This tree has the most activity I have ever seen in my life.
The summer mornings are active and when the heat sets in everything seems to go into the shade.
My resolution is to begin my revolution of love. If you ever attended attitude owned by vincent borsuk you know we were hinting at new things coming. Today I layed the first stone to that revolution. If you have been held down by bullies or saw your talent held back because other's attacked you help is coming. The revolution of love.

Happy New Year to you all!
2023 was not a great year for me and I am sad to report that it has been 8 months since I even picked up my camera. It hardly ever left my side before, like an extension of my own eyes, but PTSD swallowed me whole and I had lost all inspiration.
My New Year's Resolution, to myself, is to make friends with my camera once again. I don't know what direction that will take other than I want to get to know her again and put her to use doing what Canon intended.
Your support through such a difficult year has been a real lifeline and I do not say so lightly. Thank you all so very much, from the depths of my heart, and I hope that I can eventually repay you all with new work to share.
My warmest wishes to you for 2024 my Flickr friends. The world has gone completely crazy and looks set to continue on that path but know that I will be there with you. Sharing my photography and, more importantly, enjoying the work and words that you share and letting you know that I am thrilled to be on that journey with you.
Take care everyone.
I photographed this Northern Pintail in Showa Memorial Park 昭和記念公園, Tachikawa, Tokyo, Japan.
The pond was filled with ducks, mallards and grebe but had this one Pintail. Beautiful day with a lot of photographers.

Mount Rainier is the highest mountain of the Cascade Range of the Pacific Northwest, and the highest mountain in the state of Washington. It is a large active stratovolcano located 54 miles (87 km) southeast of Seattle. It is the most topographically prominent mountain in the contiguous United States and the Cascade Volcanic Arc, with a summit elevation of 14,411 ft (4,392 m). Mt. Rainier is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world, and it is on the Decade Volcano list. Because of its large amount of glacial ice, Mt. Rainier could potentially produce massive lahars that could threaten the entire Puyallup River valley.
Mount Rainier was first known by the Native Americans as Talol, or Tacoma or Tahoma, from the Lushootseed word [təqʷúʔbəʔ] ("mother of waters") spoken by the Puyallup. Another interpretation is that "Tacoma" means "larger than Mount Baker". This comes from the Skagit "Ta", larger, plus "Koma (Kulshan)", Mount Baker. Other names originally used include Tahoma, Tacobeh, and Pooskaus. The current name was given by George Vancouver, who named it in honor of his friend, Rear Admiral Peter Rainier. The map of the Lewis and Clark expedition of 1804-1806 refers to it as "Mt. Regniere".
Although "Rainier" had been considered the official name of the mountain, Theodore Winthrop, in his posthumously published 1862 travel book The Canoe and the Saddle, referred to the mountain as "Tacoma" and for a time, both names were used interchangeably, although "Mt. Tacoma" was preferred in the city of Tacoma.
In 1890, the United States Board on Geographic Names declared that the mountain would be known as "Rainier". Following this in 1897, the Pacific Forest Reserve became the Mount Rainier Forest Reserve, and the national park was established three years later. Despite this, there was still a movement to change the mountain's name to "Tacoma" and Congress was still considering a resolution to change the name as late as 1924.
In the excitement leading up to Super Bowl XLVIII, John Hickenlooper, Governor of Colorado, named 53 mountains after the 53 members of the Denver Broncos. In response, the Washington State Senate passed a resolution on Friday, January 31, 2014, temporarily renaming the mountain Mount Seattle Seahawks. The resolution expired on midnight Monday, February 3, 2014.
