Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

A remote planet, Dathomir is drenched in blood-red light from its central star. The planet has continents overrun by twisted vegetation, with forests of bent trees burdened by large, cocoon-like fruit. Bordering dense swamplands is the massive stone fortresses of the Nightsisters, a witch clan.

Dathomir, nicknamed the "Rancor planet", was a remote, neutral planet in the Quelli sector and the home of the Nightsisters.

The planet, lit red by its central star, had numerous continents that were overrun with vegetation, forests, and swamplands. The dark side of the Force had an immensely strong presence on Dathomir, which allowed for the nurturing of many malevolent Force wielders native to the planet.

The Nightsisters, also known as the Dathomir witches, made their home in the swamps, and wielded magicks fueled by Dathomir's own power. Dathomir was also home to the Nightbrothers, Zabraks who were ruled by the Nightsisters.

During the Clone Wars, Dathomir would come under attack multiple times due to the machinations of Mother Talzin and her rival Darth Sidious, leading to the destruction of most of the Nightsisters and settlements on the planet by the Confederacy of Independent Systems after conquering it.

Asajj Ventress, a Nightsister trained by Count Dooku, returned to Mother Talzin after her master betrayed her. This drew Dooku's attention to Dathomir, resulting in the slaughter of the Nightsisters. This left Talzin, Ventress, Merrin and Shelish as the only known survivors.

In 2 BBY, Maul returned to Dathomir with the Jedi rebel Ezra Bridger to conduct a ritual that involved summoning the spirits of fallen Nightsisters in order to reveal fragments of a holocron vision.

As a result, Maul and Ezra learned that the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi held the key to destroying the Sith and that he resided on a planet with twin suns.

Deep Ocean secrets...

She gazes through her silk reflections her smooth delicate skin becoming the envelope of silent whispers and secrets that echo and recede in harmony with her light. light in its delicate material dance with the gentle shadows in harmony with her inner music where peace and serenity resides here..

Bursting forth after a very long interval of self-enforced restraint in the form of composing in tight, perfect squares. A return to the "widescreen" format of my yesterdays. There's a great deal of freedom and openness in composing for the "big screen" and I encourage all Abstract artists to step outside your unknowns, if such be the case, and compose for a broad, wide vista. Summer is about expansion, why not expand our formats? For me, the widescreen image is about having the room and the freedom to dance with abandon.

Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado.

Mesa Verde National Park was established in 1906 to preserve and interpret the archaeological heritage of the Ancestral Puebloan people who called it home for over 700 years from 600 to 1300 CE. The park protects nearly 5,000 known archaeological sites including 600 cliff dwellings. While still farming the mesa tops, many Ancestral Puebloans lived in pueblos built beneath the overhanging cliffs. The structures ranged in size from one-room storage areas to villages of more than 150 rooms. They continued to reside in the alcoves—repairing, remodeling, and constructing new rooms—for nearly a century. By the late 1270s, the population migrated south into present-day New Mexico and Arizona.

Wikipedia: The scarlet tanager (Piranga olivacea) is a medium-sized American songbird. Until recently, it was placed in the tanager family (Thraupidae), but it and other members of its genus are now classified as belonging to the cardinal family (Cardinalidae). The species' plumage and vocalizations are similar to other members of the cardinal family, although the Piranga species lacks the thick conical bill (well suited to seed and insect eating) that many cardinals possess. The species resides in thick deciduous woodlands and suburbs.

Conservation status: Least Concern

Though Colorado is home to many birds of prey year round, some visit us just during the winter season. One example is the merlin, where it reside year-round in neighboring Wyoming (northern) and Montana, it migrates north for the summer and south for the winter. The merlin is a smaller stocky looking falcon which catches its prey of smaller to medium-sized birds, usually in mid-flight. So it's one powerful and quick raptor. They are also know to eat other things such as small mammals, snakes, and insects.

There are many species of merlins which can be challenging. Some people mistake them for kestrel, being that they have similar behaviors, but they are larger ... though not as large as a prairie or peregrine falcon.

Funny story about this image ... see Tom and I were out looking for raptors when I spotted this merlin sitting quietly on a nearby post. I asked Tom to pull over, so I could photograph it ... sitting.Being that it was winter, and snowy, when he pulled over the snow underneath the tires alerted the merlin, who then prepared for flight. Thankfully I was able to catch it just a second after it launched and luckily it flew right over us. At that time, I couldn't even get mad at Tom for "crunching the snow", since it actually agave me a better shot inflight. LOL.

Happy Monday everyone! Thanks for stopping by to view.

Ten moai have been removed from the island and transported to locations around the world, including six out of the thirteen moai that were carved from basalt.

There is one at the museum of Viña del Mar, Chile (mainland).

It was one of a eleven statues known to reside outside Easter Island til 2014.

"They're no rocks," said Carlos Edmunds, the president of the Council of Elders, of the 10 moai around the world, lava rock sculptures carved by the ancient inhabitants of Easter Island that have been kept in Museums for the last century and a half. "The Moai(s) embody the spirit of ancestors, almost like our grandfathers. This is what we want returned to our island – not just statues."

Carlos Edmunds is confident of securing the return of one other moai from the Chilean mainland, kept in the coastal city of Viña del Mar.

Camilo Rapu expressed his gratitude to the people of La Serena for the intention of returning the moai on March 14, 2019, "it is a spiritual importance that the moai have for my culture, as part of my family, my ancestors, we are very happy."

Camilo Rapu also highlighted the "example" that La Serena gave by showing his willingness to return the moai, "we are grateful because La Serena's people were the first to support us in this historic demand of the Rapa Nui people, we have requested nationally and internationally all the moai distributed and the first to react and understand our demand was the town of La Serena".

In gratitude, the idea came from the Ma’u Henua Indigenous Community to carve a moai with materials from the area, which was later baptized as "La Serena Rani Tea" which means "white sky."

The Easter Island statues were candidates for the New Seven Wonders of the World and finished eighth in the poll.

I don't know how the modern statue of Christ the Redeemer in the city of Rio won the vote against Rapa Nui. I have an idea!

Courtyard garden at the memory care center where my mom now resides.

One week later at the same location, and it appeared the bulk of the mini-migration was done, with only a few froglets still traversing the lawn on their way to the big pond. Many were found in amongst the reeds.

They hadn't grown much in a week. Most were still only 1 cm long, though they do appear to have filled out somewhat.

Prey species may be numerous at the pond, but so were the predators. I saw a Song Sparrow fly off with a froglet, legs splayed, in it's beak; no doubt being delivered to some chicks in a nearby nest. Also, the ubiquitous, introduced and invasive bullfrog resides here.

Thankfully the managers of this place do partake in a yearly cull of the bullfrogs in a never ending attempt to keep their population down.

This beautiful solitary Swan has resided at a local lake for over a month, and it seems to be doing remarkably well. A juvenile, it has changed noticeably since its arrival, looking more mature. Today it ate non-stop from sunrise to sunset, so perhaps it is getting prepared for a long flight to re-unite with other Trumpeters.

The beauty of a woman

isn’t in the clothes she wears,

The figure that she carries,

or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman

must be seen from in her eyes;

Because that’s the doorway to her heart,

the place where love resides.

The beauty of a woman

isn’t in a facial mole;

But true beauty in a woman,

is reflected by her soul.

It’s the caring that she cares to give,

the passion that she shows;

And the beauty of a woman

with passing years only grows.

Plump, chickenlike bird often found near willows; also resides in more open tundra. Plumage changes throughout the year. In winter, both sexes are pure white with black outer tail feathers. As summer progresses, male develops rich rufous head and neck and brownish back; in winter, lacks black eyeline shown by Rock Ptarmigan. Summer female is paler golden-brown with intricate black and white markings. Female nearly identical to Rock Ptarmigan; look for slightly thicker bill. Female distinguished from White-tailed Ptarmigan by warmer plumage in summer and black outer tail feathers. Also note habitat differences of White-tailed. Vocalizations include a comical nasal chuckle and various clucking notes.

We had stopped in Toronto on our way home from Point Pelee to do some birding. Imagine our surprise when we heard that a Willow Ptarmigan had just been found. We rushed down to the far end of the park, and there was this beauty! It's just getting some of its summer feathers.

Where I reside in MS now days I am unable to see many colorful sunrises or sunsets due to all of the trees. When I do see a colorful sky I attempt to capture the rare moment.

Amazing statistic of the New York City is that in Manhattan alone there are an estimated 280,000 dogs residing on the island and double that quantity in the outer boros of Queens and Brooklyn. Being smitten by dog love myself the proud owner of the two sweet mixed breed pooches, I often find my ‘street’ photography is of lovable canines. In the largely concrete jungle that is Manhattan, it’s amazing to see dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds being walked. In the few green spaces on the island, many include dog parks within their confines. I seen dogs in the dogs as early as 5 AM (I walk my guys that early if I have to go into the office early or drive my youngest daughter to the train station) and in Washington Square Park after mid-night. Manhattan in particular poses challenges because a larger portion of the population relies primarily on public transportation, unlike us NY suburbanites in northern Jersey, north New York counties (Rockland and Orange) and Long Island, many don’t own motor vehicles. Owning a canine is a wonderful rewarding experience, but also is a large responsibility that requires forethought . My kids and I having moved in the last year, number 1 on the list is, places that will accept pets, then the question is how big. Well Manhattan those queries resonate even more, even if you find a dog friendly building, the bathroom situation, how do you walk the dog? Full time job? Going to be difficult. That’s why budgeted into the care and upkeep of a pooch dog walkers are a must. Added cost is also a factor, the vets, the groomers, tend to charge a bit more. That why it’s important when considering a dog, that a lot of consideration is taken with all the factors that play into having a loyal four legged companion. This consideration and calculation does not happen some times and the city sponsored and private animal shelters in New York City are full of dogs who at first seemed like a good idea, but then reality set in and became sadly expendable. Dogs are loyal, full of love and always happy to see you, I’ve had my two for 8 and 7 years and adore them. They require attention and time, they are living creatures and if they don’t get a decent amount of attention, they will act up.

I love capturing dogs living and interacting in the city. This dog was a bit tired and was on the lap of his female caretaker happy as could be in Washington Square Park people watching; totally cool.

A few kilometers from Tbilisi is the martkopi monastery founded by St. Anton in the 6th century. Anton spent the last 15 years of his life in Martkopi. He lived as a hermit, what is implied by the "of Martkopi” designation in Georgian. From this designation came the name of the Georgian village Akriani, which initially was called Martodmkopeli and later Martkopi.

The monastery itself is situated on the most beautiful slope of Mount Ialno. The main building is the church of the Divine-Made Icon. The remains of an ancient foundation indicate that on the place of the contemporary cathedral there was an ancient cathedral of greater size, but for some reason in was destroyed. On the threshold of the XVII-XVIII centuries it was reconstructed and the belfry, which was constructed in 1629 by master Akhverd, belongs to this period. In the XVII century the ancient frescos were destroyed and in 1848-1855 under the leadership of Ivane Arjevanidze, the monastery was restored.

For a long time, a Divine-Made image brought by St Anton of Martkopi from Edessa was stored at the monastery. But in 1395 it was lost during the Tamerlane invasion.

The most sacred place of the monastery is the tomb of St Anton of Martkopi, which has been preserved to this day and is considered miraculous. East of the monastery there is a tower where evidently resided the saint.

Famous dates of renowned people of Georgia are associated with the monastery. In this cathedral was married Alexander Chavchavadze, father of Ekaterine Dadiani – the last Queen of Samegrelo, and Nina Chavchavadze-Griboedova.

A very shy and elusive bird that is more common than I thought, but very hard to get a sight of or shot of. This is a waterbird and a member of the rail and Crake family. It is also a large bird around 40-45 cms long and weighing half a kilo or more. They are quite large compared to the other waterbirds here, but they are so impossible to sight in the green fields where they reside. They are easily identified by the frontal red shield and calls.

The birds stick to the foot long grass in the countryside and hence very hard to spot - any sighting in our region is considered rare. I had sighted this bird many times, but not many shots.

But last week after a rather frustrating 4 hour morning session, I stopped on an elevated lake embankment road next to a reed bed as a last resort hoping for some luck. In the distant fields, a Red Necked Falcon was hunting for its nest and scared away around 100+ Swamphens, a few Bitterns and this Watercock. The Watercock flew to the reed bed and landed some 50 feet from me. I couldn't believe my luck and am absolutely delighted with the quality shots. This one is a male, the female is more brownish in color.

Thanks in advance for your views and feedback. Much appreciated.

Copernicus resides in the moon's northwest quadrant in the Oceanus Procellarum and is one of the most striking on the moon.

The crater is some 90km in diameter.

This is a second image of the crater during the session but this time I used a focal extender on my Celestron C11 SCT.

Again the terraced walls of the lower side of the crater, along with the craters central mountains, are being strongly illuminated by the rising sun. In contrast the upper side of the crater remains in inky darkness.

The crater is surrounded by an ejecta blanket and this is nicely highlighted in this image with textured detail.

The floor topology shows one quadrant (on the left) is comparatively smooth in contrast to the boulder strewn appearance of the remaining quadrants.

Imaged with a Celestron C11SCT, Focal Extender and a ZWO290MM camera/Baader Long pass filter.

Thanks for looking!

The city of Cambridge is full of brains and bicycles. The brains mainly reside in the hallowed halls of the university. They ride the bicycles, as do lesser mortals.

These pinnacles of intellect often seem to engage in incomprehensible and seemingly arcane studies. I remember going to a lecture once where an animated young lady effused enthusiasm for her doctoral research on the meaning and metaphors to be found in the patterns of Polynesian mat-weaving in the age before civilisation arrived (in the form of a boat from Europe).

I found the talk strangely fascinating and interesting. It takes one to know one I guess.

The latest development by the city’ brains is driverless bicycles. This advanced technology has considerable benefits to society, and Cambridge is now the world leader in the field (or streets for that matter). Bikes can travel a lot closer together, significantly reducing the congestion in the bike lanes for this already climate-friendly mode of transport. You can clearly see this in my image, taken in Cambridge just this week and processed today.

But there’s been a problem. There have been a large number of fatalities resulting from collisions between the novel bikes and food delivery riders driving their electric scooters. No one is quite sure what is the cause...

Quite understandably there has been considerable consternation in the upper levels of the city authorities. They are concerned that if we run out of drivers (more likely now since the ignominy of Brexit) food will be unable to be delivered from the restaurants to people’s homes and the population will starve. Never a good thing for leaders of a democracy (or even a monarchy - remember the French Revolution, anyone?). :)

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Smile on Saturday and 100x

Despite the challenging weather and light conditions, I enjoyed watching these characterful auks at close hand. They had started to visit drainage holes in the sea wall where they nest and there was lots of animated courtship behaviour going on.

This bird had recently woken up, then preened itself. Here it is about to fly down to the sea where others were gathered.
