The end is nigh for Denmark's last remaining Lynette type DMUs, which will be replaced with battery-powered trains of Siemens' Mireo range in the very near future. I therefore drove up to the northwest to take a photo or two of the rather aesthetically pleasing old units before they are gone. First hike out with my new Scarpa boots in the Peak District. I replaced the old ones as they were never Waterproof despite the label. New boots past the test. Sadly the Sunrise did not. All the cloud disappeared shortly beforehand leaving me with a mostly cloudless sky.

Off to the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana tomorrow for the State Science Olympiad competition. I'm the official chaperone for 30 High School and Jr High kids.......who da thunk it. When I was in High School I was the chaperone's nightmare. At least I'll be one step ahead of 'em, I hope........

Bottom line; I'll have more interesting photos this weekend!

The PL 17 replaced the Dyna Z and was presented on June 29, 1959. For model year 1961 a cabriolet was added followed by an estate version in April 1963.

Late 1963 the PL 17 range underwent a minor facelift for the 1964 model year.

Responsible for the avant garde design of the PL 17 and his predecessor Dyna Z was Louis Bionier (1898-1973) in cooperation with AndrƩ Jouan.

In 1965 Citroƫn became full owner of Panhard. In the same year production of the PL 17 has ceased.

I came across with this old Panhard on a car park of a GB SupermarchƩ during our trip back home. It's obviously a daily driver.

The Brickell Avenue Bridge is a bascule bridge in Downtown Miami, Florida, that carries U.S. Route 1 (US 1; Brickell Avenue) over the Miami River.

The original Brickell Avenue Bridge was built in 1929 and replaced in 1995. The Brickell Avenue Bridge was widened by one additional northbound lane in 2006 to reduce the traffic bottleneck through downtown. Before this, there were three southbound but only two northbound lanes. Currently, there are three lanes in each direction as well as a pedestrian walkway on both sides. Still, the bridge causes frequent traffic delays on the busy Brickell Avenue when it opens. According to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the bridge opened 4,990 times in 2010.

The statue is a 53-foot bronze monument commissioned by the Florida Department of Transportation and created by Cuban Master Sculptor Manuel Carbonell in 1995. The "Pillar of History" consists of a 36-foot high carved bas-relief column that graphically narrates the lives of the Tequesta Indians, Miami's first inhabitants, and features 158 figures. At the top stands a 17-foot bronze sculpture, "Tequesta Family" portraying a Tequesta Indian warrior aiming an arrow to the sky, looking for space in eternity, with his wife and child by his side, while the son covers his face in expectation of their extinction.

Carbonell also created four bas reliefs, measuring 4-feet by 8-feet, which were installed in niches on the bridge's supporting piers. Each relief honors Miami's early founders and pioneers - William and Mary Brickell, Henry Flagler, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, and Julia Tuttle.

I shot this picture during my workshop in Toronto. We had a bit of fun (okay, a TON of fun) throwing flour and baby powder all over the model. I only got 3 shots from it, as it should be given that I was teaching, but I was morning the fact that the shots were looking aaamazing and I wanted one. So later on I took what I had, which really was just to demo the scene, and I decided to look at it in a unique way. I decided to edit the picture to be drastically different from what it looked like in my camera and I came out with something that I'm proud of.

Model is Richelle Coomey.

Fleet No: "6447"

This aircraft was delivered to United Airlines as N647UA in Apr-92. It was sold to a lessor on delivery and leased back to United.

It was sold back to United in Jun-15 and fitted with blended winglets in Aug-18. Now 30 years old it continues in service, Updated 24-Feb-22.

'British Airways Express' titles, operated by Brymon Airways.

Named: "Somerset".

First flown with the deHavilland Canada test registration C-GEOA, this aircraft was leased to Brymon Airways as G-BRYJ in Mar-92.

Brymon merged with Birmingham UK based BEA (not the BEA which became British Airways!) and was renamed Brymon European Airways in Nov-02. However, the merger wasn't a success and the airlines separated in May-93 with Brymon becoming Brymon Airways again.

In Aug-93 Brymon became a British Airways franchise partner and started flying as British Airways Express. In Mar-02 Brymon was merged into another British Airways franchise, CityFlyer Express, operations for British Airways continued until the aircraft was returned to Bombardier in Apr-05 as C-FEXZ.

It was converted to Dash 8-314 standard in Jul-05 and was leased to Voyageur Airways in May-06. The aircraft was sub-leased to the United Nations in Jan-07 for operation in Africa, returning in 2009. It was leased to the UN again in Aug-10 and continues as part of UN World Food Programme operations in the Horn of Africa. Current as of May-16.

JAS 'Rainbow Triple', right side.

An early Boeing 777 (Line No:45), this aircraft was delivered to JAS Japan Air System as JA8977 in Dec-96. JAS was merged into JAL Japan Airlines new 'Domestic' division in Apr-04.

In Oct-06 the domestic division was merged into Japan Airlines International and in Apr-11 the 'International' was dropped from the titles and the company became Japan Airlines once again.

The aircraft was withdrawn from service in Jan-20 and stored at Tokyo - Haneda. It was ferried to Victorville, CA, USA in Aug-20 for further storage.

In Sep-20 it was sold to the Midwest Aviation Group and moved to Kansas City, MO, USA where it was permanently retired. The aircraft was transferred to Alta Airlines Holdings in Nov-20 and is being used as a spares source. Updated 28-Aug-22.

The Nord-West Express has just arrived in Bad Bentheim. The DBAG 110 will be replaced by the NS 1213 for the last part of the trip to Amterdam.

Delivered to Euralair, France as F-GINL in Mar-92, this aircraft was leased to Air France in Oct-92 and returned to Euralair in Mar-98. On it's return to Euralair, it was sold to a leasing company and leased back.

In Apr-98 it was sub-leased to AOM Air Outre Mer, France. The lease was transferred to AOM in Aug-98. The aircraft was returned to the lessor in Oct-00 and was leased to LOT Polish Airlines as SP-LKI the following month.

Returning to the lessor in May-04, it was immediately leased to SkyEurope Airlines as OM-SEE. It was returned to the lessor in Feb-07 and leased to Aeroflot-Nord later the same month as VP-BRE.

Aeroflot-Nord was renamed Nordavia Regional Airlines in 2010 after Aeroflot withdrew it's franchise agreement. I think the aircraft was permanently retired at Arkhangelsk, Russia in mid 2011 (I'm unable to find any photos of it after May-11). It was broken up at Arkhangelsk in early 2019.

The registration VP-BRE was re-issued in Aug-17 to a Boeing 767-3W0ER of Royal Flight, Russia.

This aircraft was delivered to Lufthansa as D-ABHW in Feb-82. It was sold to Croatia Airlines as 9A-CTE in Jul-93. In Dec-98 it was sold to Aerotrans Ltd (South Africa) as ZS-OIV and leased to Nationwide Air Charter the same month.

Nationwide Air Charter ceased operations in Apr-08 and the aircraft was stored at Johannesburg. It was sold to KAL Aviation (UAE) as AP-BIP in Apr-09 and leased to Shaheen Air International (Pakistan) the same day.

After 30 years in service the aircraft was permanently retired at Karachi in Mar-12 and the registration was cancelled the following month. It was last noted still stored at Karachi in Jan-14.

G-BZZA never got to see the full Astraeus livery as they only leased it for the 2003 summer season from May/Oct.

This aircraft was delivered to Maersk Air Denmark as OY-MAL in Mar-92 and was leased to the British Airways German franchise operator, Deutshe BA as D-ADBA in Jun-92. Maersk sold it to a lessor in Sep-96 while the lease to Deutsche BA continued.

It was returned to the lessor in Sep-99 and was stored until it was leased to KLM's new UK 'low-cost' airline Buzz as G-BZZA in Jan-00. KLM eventually decided that 'low-cost' wasn't for them and Buzz was sold to Ryanair in Mar-03 (Buzz staff couldn't agree to Ryanair's T&C's so Ryanair closed it down at the end of Oct-04).

The aircraft was returned to the lessor at the end of Mar-03. It was leased to Astraeus Airlines in May-03 for the summer season, returning to the lessor at the end of Oct-03. In Dec-03 it was leased to Deutsche BA again, now re-named DBA.com, as D-ADIG.

DBA.com was merged into Air-Berlin in early 2006 but continued to operate as DBA until the merger was completed in Dec-06. It was returned to the lessor in Mar-09 and was stored at Budapest, Hungary.

In Jun-08 the aircraft was leased to the ill-fated Sky Europe as OM-CLD until they ceased operations in Sep-09 and it returned to storage. In Feb-10 it was leased Global Air (Mexico) as XA-UNG. It was stored at Mexico City in early 2011 and returned to the lessor a few months later.

The aircraft was leased to Tajik Air as EY-444 in Oct-11. It was withdrawn from service and permanently retired at Moscow - Vnukovo, Russia in Nov-18. Updated 07-Sep-22.

Replacing an earlier scanned photo with a better version 15-Apr-21, plus Topaz DeNoise AI 15-Aug-25.

Named: "Arosa", but only shown on the left side.

This aircraft was delivered to Irish Aerospace Ltd as G-GMJM in Nov-91 and was stored until it was leased to Airtours International Airways in Mar-92. They only kept it for 3.5 years and it was returned to the lessor in Dec-95.

It was leased to Edelweiss Air as HB-IKN in Jan-96. The aircraft was returned to the lessor in Feb-99, re-registered EI-CRW and leased to Meridiana SpA (Italy) in Apr-99. Meridiana was renamed Meridiana Fly in Feb-10.

It returned to the lessor in Mar-12 and was stored at Marana, AZ, USA and re-registered N276CS. It was sold to Jetran LLC in Oct-12 and remained stored at Marana. It was sold to Marana Aerospace Solutions Inc in Jul-16 and permanently retired. It was later broken up (date unknown).

France - 2010

47433 arrives at Holyhead with the 13.00 departure from London Euston and descends the 1:75 slope towards the station.. On the left 08746 waits to follow the train down to remove the empty stock from the platform.Quite a few changes have taken place since 1982. On the right the short siding remains but the rest of the railway infrastructure had to make way for the A55 Expressway. The two bridges , which carry a footpath, have been replaced by a new structure which straddles the new road and the railway. In the background the large factory has been demolished and the site cleared and redeveloped. ( I'd be interested to hear if anyone knows anything about this factory!) On the left the old steam shed has gone and been replaced by a new servicing structure.
