Wanted to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I know that it’s been a challenging year, but I pray that the New Year brings everyone a bit of renewed hope and that it is far better than they year we left behind. I also want to thank everyone for their kind words and support over the past year. Take care and stay safe and marvelous New Year. Peace.

The first time I walked passed this man I knew I wanted to take his picture, but it was too busy to get anything. As we stopped briefly up ahead I decided to double back to try and get a candid shot. I got the shot, minus the candid!

Chapel on Sycamore

Made of granite quarried in Stone Mountain, the a href="https://decaturfirst.org/" rel="noreferrer nofollow">Decatur First United Methodist Church chapel was completed in 1899 on the site of a wooden church erected in 1823-26 ("possibly the city of Decatur's oldest public structure"). It remained First Methodist’s primary chapel until 1967, when the present adjacent sanctuary opened. The congregation continued to use the chapel for smaller religious services, special events, weddings, and funerals.

In 2021, the church sold the chapel to law firm Williams Teusink. The law firm restored the chapel, retooling it for use as a community theater and small concert venue, and for educational forums and community gatherings, "respectful of its history as a place of worship." The church retains the use of the chapel on a part-time basis.

The law firm previously won a Historic Preservation Commission design award for their renovation of the High House, built in 1830 and "thought to be DeKalb County’s oldest building and Decatur’s first two-story house."

We need quiet time to examine our lives openly and honestly, spending quiet time alone gives your mind an opportunity to renew itself and create order. ~ Susan Taylor.

OK. Second one for tonight is the mono conversion of 'Lofoten Islands - Image #12'.

There will be some fresh images in due course, but for now I'm posting the conversions I've already processed. I tend to do my mono versions at the same time as the colour ones which for now means I ain't got too much to do to get them posted.

Renewing the street art on Fashion Street.

"Renewed shall be blade that was broken; the crownless again shall be king."

My life-size (1:1 scale) LEGO replica of Andúril (‘Flame of the West’), the sword of Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings.

Andúril is the reforged version of Narsil, the ancient sword of King Isildur that cut the One Ring from Sauron’s hand.

The sword is 52.9″ / 134cm long and is durable enough (with its multilayered plate construction) to be held at any angle without breaking. Inside-out rubber tires form the ‘leather’ grip and also reinforce the connection between the blade and hilt.

As an optional display format, I designed the blade to separate into six sections to recreate the ‘Shards of Narsil’, the broken version of the sword in the movie before it is reforged into Andúril for The Return of the King.

Just want to share a little inspiration for you taken from the WORD.

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Psalms 51:10

This impressive parish church is located right next to Linlithgow Palace. The church dates from Medieval times and the crown steeple was renewed in 1964. This picture was taken from the graveyard where there were some very old stones.

Had a fairly grim day of photography, driving around for 3 hours lacking inspiration.. Although there was fog, it was very murky, this was from the only time I actually managed to motivate myself to get out of the car at Eye airfield about 10 minutes from home.
