To be rich in admiration and free from envy, to rejoice greatly in the good of others, to love with such generosity of heart that your love is still a dear possession in absence or unkindness - these are the gifts which money cannot buy. Robert Louis Stevenson

Liturgy is like a strong tree whose beauty is derived from the continuous renewal of its leaves, but whose strength comes from the old trunk, with solid roots in the ground. Pope Paul VI

That's how I feel about Sundays.

Have a great week!

Even in destruction is the possibility that from the decay, new life will appear. Fungi growing on trees and in their debris that were downed by Ike bears witness to the fact that there truly is a Circle of Life.

For Ron, even in Texas you can find fungi. Here's a link to Emblatame - wonderful captures of fungi, nature and Australia - flickr.com/photos/25747229@N00/2962640538/

New growth in a prescribed burn area, Withlacoochee State Forest, Citrus County, Fl

Having been in the area numerous times in the past, we returned for a longer stay this spring. Exploring Prince Edward County on a rainy day.

As the iced over lakes, ponds and sloughs have opened up in our part of Minnesota, there is more activity from bald eagles. From high on their perches, they survey the terrain for their next meal, dead or alive.

While mushrooms are my subject, my focus was capturing the entire scene, illustrating an old yet constantly renewing ecosystem. The soft light was captivating and it also reminded me of Michigan’s Armillaria on the northern peninsula, it has remained genetically stable for nearly 2500 years. The mushroom is the reproductive structure of the fungus, releasing spores to propagate. We tend to think of it as an individual 'plant' but it's not.

No matter if your a man of science or religion when you lose a loved one you can't help but ask why. It doesn't matter how many times you ask the question or to whom, the answer will just never be, and at some point you must find solace somewhere. A person has within them a unique energy that has the ability to impact the world in ways beyond our comprehension. I think of that when I'm sad and suddenly I begin to see the sun shine down-- trying with all its might to seep through the darkness of the trees and fall upon my shoulder. I know I will see my mom again and yet I already do. I feel her everywhere in the beauty that's around me and the way she taught me to look at the world.

From the Glacier adventure with Brendon. The place was the most amazing thing ever. It was litterally carpeted with moss and there were tons of fallen trees to walk on and places to explore. I want to live here!!!

In my mind this is kind of a continuation of "Forest Frolic" which I can't link to at the moment because I still haven't got around to renewing my pro account. I hate spending money.

Thanks to Brendon for pressing the shutter!

For our Joy and the Glory of Jesus, through whom all things were made. The Father’s Goodness only makes sense when we trust Him. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; John 1:3, Genesis 50:20)

We often distract ourselves with entertainment, but God calls us to be distracted by his Great Immeasurable Goodness (or his Glory).

The fire often forces you to sort out where your identity is really anchored - not in your job, or your title, or your performance, or your appearance, but in your "unloseable" relationship with Jesus Christ. The flames often drive you to a new closeness with the people you love, sometimes they cleanse your schedule from years of accumulation, and they can draw you deeper into your Lord than you ever thought you could go.

Yes, the fire destroys. But, thank God, that is not the end of the story. The fire also renews!

“It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon our hearts. It's that subtle something, that quality of air, that wisdom from old trees, all of which so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.”

~ revised quote from Robert Louis Stevenson ~

So story time...i will make it short. We all go to a factory. Joel is not a fan of birds. He said if they caught a bird he would take a picture with it. David caught a bird that was in a hole...yes its a real live bird, it was all ruffled and probably in shock since it acted half dead the whole time. Joel then faced his fears and shot with the bird. The End.

Renews once again has a Western Kingbird atop down for a visit and we were lucky to spend time with it. Many photos taken in harsh sun .

Though known as birds of the West, Western Kingbirds tend to wander during fall migration. They show up along the East Coast, between Florida and Newfoundland, every autumn—but only rarely during the spring.

In the dense, green forests deep and wide,

The tiger roams with a regal stride.

Golden coat with ebony streaks,

A silent hunter, power it speaks.

Eyes like embers, sharp and keen,

Gliding through shadows, barely seen.

Each step measured, soft yet strong,

The jungle echoes its haunting song.

Guardian of the wild, fierce and free,

A symbol of nature's majesty.

Through mangroves dense, or grassy plains,

The tiger rules where wildness reigns.

Yet whispers tell of dwindling ground,

Of forests lost, no prey is found.

The king now fights a battle grim,

A world forgetting the need for him.

O mighty tiger, bold and true,

Your roar still calls, we must renew.

Protect the forests, let rivers run,

For life with you and us is one.

Let cubs frolic in twilight's glow,

Let jungles thrive where you bestow.

For when the tiger fades from sight,

The world will dim, robbed of its light.

Germany, Mainau, … a peaceful "place”, near to the shore & the city of Konstanz is the location of island Mainau in Lake Constance, opposite to the shore of the City of Überlingen. It is maintained as a garden island & a model of excellent environmental practices. The island can be reached via a bridge & has a jetty for ferries.

Dahlia, there are over 40 species of dahlia, with hybrids commonly grown as garden plants. The majority types do not produce fragrant flowers, like most plants that do not attract pollinating insects through scent, they are brightly coloured, displaying most hues, with the exception of blue.

Spaniards reported finding the plants growing in Mexico in 1525, in 1787 the French botanist Nicolas-Joseph Thiéry de Menonville, sent to Mexico to steal the cochineal insect valued for its scarlet dye.

In 1963 the dahlia was declared the national flower of Mexico. The tubers were grown as a food crop by the Aztecs, attempts to introduce the tubers as a food crop in Europe were unsuccessful.

Due to the for Germany unusual advantageous climate on the island at the lake the island is called the "Flowering Island". Famous for its parks & gardens with even full-grown palm trees, cypresses & countless other Mediterranean plants, partly even tropical vegetation can grow on the drop-shaped island.

The Plants & flower-beds with are constantly renewed by the gardeners, not only the over approximately 20,000 dahlia bushes Rhododendrons of 180 different species, Azaleas or the Italian rose garden, strictly geometric, consisting of pergolas, sculptures fountains, over 1200 kinds of roses can be found on the island.

A million daffodils, hyacinth, tulips, 500-year-old wild roses & more than 30,000 other rose bushes, also palm trees & citrus fruits grow here, the palms go into the greenhouse over the winter, with a changing climate soon maybe it will not be necessary anymore.

But that has nothing to do with the island's sometimes claimed tropical climate; the lake does level out temperatures & acts a little as central heating in winter because it has stored summer heat.

But above all, the art of the skilled gardeners & their work on the Mainau making this island so unique.

Never Turn Your Back On A Friend.

We live, we change, we grow. we fight, we love, we get stuck, we get up. we get down, but I never like to forget what is important and I keep my feelings constant for my friends.

And we may fight and argue and misunderstand, we may go up, we may go down, but we also share and care and bear the burdens and the joys of life with each other and our families.

So I find, no matter what, once someone has a place in my heart, that rarely ever changes.
