“He who would pass his declining years with honor and comfort, should, when young, consider that he may one day become old, and remember when he is old, that he has once been young.”

Ragusa, Sicily.
An beautiful sleepy town steeped in history. Although it was a rainy day, it did not spoil its charm.

This tree trunk will eventually disintegrate, dissolve, and disappear - and will be recycled if you wish. A hundred years from now, there will probably be nobody to remember this tree. It will be as if it had never been here. As if. Because it was here. It once stood here for decades and left its imprint in the structure of life, even in the material and physical strata of the planet. As such, this tree has indeed impacted on the structure of the cosmos and changed it. Because it once was here, plenty of tiny changes have occurred around it. Irreversibly so. Remember.

I said to myself:
I wonder how far Ophelia went with Hamlet. 30
What else was there Shakespeare never told?
There must have been something.
If I go bugs I want to do it like Ophelia.
There was class to the way she went out of her head.

Remember Pep rescued me from outside back in June? I'm doing very well in my new home. No one ever came to claim me so my new mommy said I could stay. She changed my name from Samson to Benson. Says I look more like a Benson "Ben". I like to look out the window at Pep and mommy to make sure they come back inside the house. Click on the link below to jog your memory ;-)

Take a moment!
Pause and remember that we are free to go about our business in a somewhat peaceful and civilized way!! There are those around the world that put their lives on the line each and every minute of the day in an effort to contain the criminal element that would prey on an innocent individual! Every time an attack occurrs that attack is leveled at your freedom by those who would subjugate others only to extend their corruption and power and force their will upon them!! It's a difficult world we live in and becoming more challenging! Pray for a return to sanity and common sense and ethical values!!
REMEMBER
Pray for those who have been slain senselessly and pray for their families...those who have lost their loved ones so that we can be free to enjoy life peacefully! Remember that they are people like you and me...people who live next door...sons...fathers...mothers...brothers... and enjoyed life every bit as much as you and I do!!

I got back to the rookery today & look what is going on there now! Baby Great Blues are pretty crazy-looking!
Bye baby, see you around
Didn't I tell you I wouldn't hold you down
Take good care of yourself, y'hear
Don't let me hear about you shedding a tear
You're gonna make it
You're gonna take it
Remember me as a sunny day
That you once had, along the way
Didn't I inspire you a little higher
Remember me as a funny clown
That made you laugh when you were down
Didn't I boy, didn't I boy
Remember me as a big balloon
At a carnival that ended too soon
Remember me as a breath of spring
Remember me as a good thing

.....on her special day with waves of chocolaty goodness!
I found this recipe for marble chiffon cake in mom's cookbook. It took hours to make. Well worth the time, effort, and the zillion eggs! Delicious!!!!!! Goes great with coffee or milk! Served with pureed fruit....... delicious beyond belief. E-mail me if you want the recipe.
The story behind the cake:
I awoke late one night, it was the eve of my fifth birthday (or maybe it was my fourth, who remembers), to find mom walking around the kitchen holding an upside down tube pan with a ladle through the middle in her hand. She had made this special chiffon cake for my birthday, but it had risen above the pan and needed to cool upside down or it would collapse. Since she didn't want to destroy the top of the cake she stuck the ladle through the tube and walked around the kitchen for a very long time until the cake could be turned safely and beautifully out of the pan!
And that's what makes moms so special!

It is Remembrance Sunday in a few days to commemorate the contribution of both military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts. I thought this image of the rural village of Adlestrop will be appropriate.
In our busy lives we rarely have the opportunity to step back, ponder and reflect about what those in the military have sacrificed for us to be able to live in peace. We should never forget what those who served have experienced in the face of danger beyond our comprehension.
