One of my favourite ever campsites a few weeks ago on the German/Czech border. Huge natural cave, misty morning forest, what more could I ask for?!
Off camera flash in the tent, triggered remotely with a cheap ebay release.
I spotted this snail moving at droplet speed toward an opening to an underground irrigation control box. There it will wait until sunset or when the nearby field is watered at night to reemerge. That's how a snail survives in Southern California during a drought.

Looking at the sunset can bring warmth, reflection, and peace to the soul.
Tonight our photoclub went to the Camas Wildlife Refuge. In this image you will see Steve, our club president, taking in the view. It's important to take time and enjoy the scene with your eyes, before getting behind the camera, especially with a view like this!

The work shows sandbanks constantly transformed by the combined action of tidal currents, waves and winds. Different populations of birds occupy these ephemeral and evocative islands which emerge temporarily before being swallowed up again.

L’œuvre montre des bancs de sable constamment transformés par l’action combinée des courants de marées, des vagues et des vents. Différentes population d’oiseaux occupent ces îles éphémères et évocatrices qui émergent temporairement avant d’être englouties à nouveau.
In the middle of last century, country churches dotted the countryside and farm families drew comfort and encouragement from gatherings with neighbors. Everybody in small churches knew each other and often provided refuge to those they knew were in need. Today's large churches located in cities and larger towns struggle to have the same feeling of intimacy. Few country churches remain.

Lee Metcalf, the Refuges name's sake was a US Senator from Montana.

SANCTUARY
With the onset of the winter season the sports anglers change focus to lower Fraser tributaries like the Vedder/Chilliwack river to search for the prized winter steelhead. For many anglers, catching a steelhead is an ultimate dream, wether catching it on a fly, bait casting, spinner or centerpin is an incredible experience. These fish are classic and highly respected throughout the sport, It is the hardest fish to catch in the world, fishing or steelhead is not for everyone. You have to brave the cold and damp winter weather, spending hours in the cold, chilly weather, you have to wear layers to beat the freezing temperature, Steelhead fishing is not best-known as quantity fishery but it is absolutely renowned as a `must-try`one. I dedicate this to the strong willed sports anglers of the river of BC.
A day at the river with my fishing buddies & fellow photographers, thanks for a great day at the river,
A few days ago, I went exploring Vallée des Fantômes in Parc National Monts-Valin, I was with my brother Renald(lefion) and my friend Julien (Abo)...we were alone on the summit for about 2 hours....it was a magical experience that I will never forget.

The Vallée des Fantômes
The phantoms inhabit the valley at an altitude of 800 metres near the clear peaks. The trees are so well protected from winds that blowing snow from nearby summits causes up to three metres of snow accumulation, decking out the evergreens with a layer of soft snow that eventually camouflages them completely. These are the phantoms. It is guaranteed that you will experience a total change of scenery! After a good snowfall, the atmosphere is muted, the ground seems to be carpeted in cotton batten and the silence is omnipresent.
Panorama 360º par Abo (Julien).... a must!

The male gets a lot of attention for those flashy red/orange wing accents, but the female deserves some photos too.
Bombay Hook NWR, Delaware.
Lost Trail National Wildlife Refuge was at one time homesteads and cattle ranches. Dahl Lake was drained in order to create more grazing land. Its mostly been restored back to its natural state but evidence of old homesteads can still be seen.
The west coast of Tasmania can be a very hostile place, subjected directly to the "roaring forties" gales with uninterrupted fetches stretching thousands of kilometres towards South America. Couta Rocks provides a small haven of sorts for the few remaining fishers who continue to make a living from the sea in this area. I was blessed to see it like this!

I found this little space under these branches, just big enough to barely fit a person. It seemed like such a safe place, protected by thorns and branches.
I secretly love returning home from shooting with scratch marks all over. It makes me feel like I've overcome a challenge.
Montezuma National Wildlife refuge provides resting, feeding, and nesting habitat for waterfowl and other migratory birds. Montezuma is situated in the middle of one of the most active flight lanes in the Atlantic Flyway.
Two hundred forty-two species of birds, 43 species of mammals, 15 species of reptiles, and 16 species of amphibians can be found on the refuge for at least part of the year. The wide array of wildlife can be credited to the varied habitat types found there, from marsh to forest, shrub- and grassland.

I've been wanting to shoot photos of this church for years and finally got the chance a few months back. The thing that struck me most was the tranquility of this place. Although abandoned by its members it sits proud, strong, and peaceful. Thankfully there is a local movement to raise money to put a new roof on the building to stem the decay.
