Hi to all,
Firstly a big thanks to all who have taken the time to view and comment on my photographs over the last few years. I wanted to say a few words to explain where I've gone.
As with so many others the recent changes to Flickr have come as quite a shock to me. I can't say I'm a fan of them (or the terrible way that they have been implemented) but equally I can't see that they are the end of the world.
Functionality issues aside, even from before the recent update Flickr has been moving towards displaying progressively higher resolution images. I can understand why they might feel the site needs to go down this route but I am concerned that it does leave my work open to photo theft.
In the past we had been given the option to limit the publically viewable size of images on Flickr, regardless of the resolution it was uploaded at. It appears that option has now been removed, or rather the options that are offered are still higher than I am comfortable with.
For the time being I've decided on the admittedly extreme action of making my existing photostream private while I consider my options. Flickr has been such a wonderful forum for displaying my work and I am reluctant to leave it all together. At the moment I'm thinking to downsize a selection of my own favourite and most popular images and continue posting new works. Clearly this is going to be a rather time consuming task so please bear with me and watch this space.

Looking out to a steep set of stairs in Fort Morgan State Historic Site in Gulf Shores, ALabama. The original fort was built during the War of 1812 and was active during the Civil war and both World Wars.
Another image I found in the folder from the Phototwitch - a lovely bright male Splendid wren in his breeding plumage.

Saltburn Pier, Saltburn-by-the-sea, Cleveland
The misty effect is caused by the ebb and flow of the tide. The lighting is from the recently installed under the pier lighting system which makes it look very effective in the dark.

We had these amazing winds blowing the roofs (well, almost) of our houses last night. The show lasted till the early hours of the morning, so I hardly got any sleep last night. I've been surviving on strong coffee today.
At one point it started raining vertical straight at the windows of our bedroom. It made one hell of a noise, by hitting the glass so fast it sounded like hail. I'm very tired right now, but I can't sleep, so I'll post this image of the Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra and I'll be off to bed later. Apparently the show is set for a repeat tonight as well.
Here is another shot taken only moments later at the same place as this one.
Thanks guys! Explore and Front Page!

Christmas is almost here and before I get stuck with the celebrations I want to say "thank you" to all my contacts and viewers who have bear with me for the past year. I remember this was the same time last year where my views started soaring up in the air and for that I truly appreciate your support. I wish to thank all those who have inspired me to better my photography, the groups whom I have collaborated with, those who drop me flickr mails thanking me for the inspirations, and above all you guys for not forgetting my stream.
It has been a tough year for me and for all of us. If not for photography I wouldn't be standing in my two feet today.
I leave you with this shot coming from my golden archives taken in Fingal Heads in NSW Australia. A place I truly miss and I look forward to returning here in God's time.
I wish you all my constant viewers and contacts, active or non-active (like me most of the time, lol!), the best in this holiday season. A prosperous year to all of us. Enjoy and godbless!

By chance, I rediscovered images taken during a first RedBubble Meetup (with members of the "Welcome Pennsylvania" group).
Figure why not reprocess these HDRs with my current software and post-processing workflow.

The picture shows what I believe is a juvenile Mockingbird almost ready to hop out of the nest. However, the white feathers on the head are somewhat inconclusive, so it could be a different species. Any comments are welcome!
