Here's an image of a Red Shouldered Hawk. I took this today at Myakka River State Park. I saw this hawk sitting beside the road and when I stopped to take it's photo, it just flew away. I got out of the truck and followed it around to the tree in which it landed. This is hand held with the 70-200mm f 2.8 lens. A few minutes earlier, I was way back in the woods and I cranked the ISO up to 800. A little much for this shot, but I was so excited to see the bird, I forgot to turn the ISO back down.

I haven't photographed a hawk in a long time so...

With traffic moving slowly on this MLK Day in 2011, I only caught two freight trains and one Metra before having to give up the ghost due to the cold. With temps dropping, wind increasing, snow storms coming in, and traffic reduced due to a derailment at Spaulding earlier that morning, this CP-lead freight train was my last train of the day at the old Bartlett depot.

These flowers lasted into November - outside. I thought it was a Geranium but my wife just corrected me :-(

I like the graphic arts aspect of this shot. How'd I get that white background? It's the garage door behind the flower. Ha!
