I’ve wanted to photograph the feral chickens in a vacant lot near my home for a long time. I decided to organize a Chicken Art theme today at We’re Here! and hope for the best.
It’s still raining, so I consulted the hourly weather app to pick the most optimistic time, packed up my weather resistant Pentax camera, and set out with my fingers crossed. Of course, when I arrived it was too wet out and the chickens, being smarter than I am, were somewhere else warm and dry.
I decided to go do my grocery shopping while I already had the car out, and on my way home I detoured to that little field again, with the slimmest of hopes. There they were! And the sun came out!
Some days the Chicken Gods smile.
A Common Darter dragonfly soaks up the warmth from the fleeting sunhine before continuing his search for a female.

Nidda is a small river running from the north east of Frankfurt through to the Main river. Is currently being "re-naturated", i.e. it's allowed to flood/swamp the surroundings. Impact on wildlife seems to be noticable. Lots of storks and herons have taken that new habitat with abandon :-).

and re-upload because today was one of those days I was definitely longing to be somewhere else and not at my desk...
Schloss Chillon, jeder war da einfach mal. Ich zwar auch erst einmal, aber ich habe dort nur EW IV Steuerwagen. Da jetzt immer mehr reine IC 2020-Kompositionen unterwegs sind, rücken die in den letzten zwei Jahren aus dem Fokus gerückten IC 2000 Wagen wieder ins Visier. Die Mischkomps sind einfach nichts Schönes. So hatten wir einen reinen IC 2020-Pendel, welcher sich kurz nach dem Wegzug des Schatten in der schönen Frühlingsszenerie zeigt.
Noch erbringen die Schweizer Lokomotiven der Reihe 420 alle Leistungen auf dem IC 4 zwischen Singen am Hohentwiel und Zürich HB, doch ab Fahrplanwechsel 2022/2023 wird sich dieses Bild ändern. Ab dann übernehmen Triebzüge des Typs "Kiss" von DB Fernverkehr auf dem gesamten Laufweg von Stuttgart bis Zürich. Nur noch wenige Züge am Tag werden im Schweizer Abschnitt mit den hübschen Loks der Reihe 420 bespannt. Am 22.10.2022 passierte Re 420 161, die letzte tannengrüne Re 4/4 || der SBB mit dem IC 185 nach Zürich HB das Zollhaus bei Rafz in der Schweiz.
