Saw this mushroom with another on top. Or it was done that way by someone else, but it seemed as if they had fused together.
A mystery to me.

Small forest of hardwoods keeps watch over Seminary Fen Scientific & Natural Area in Chanhassen/Chaska, Minnesota.
This was originally the site of the Mudcura Sanitarium, a world-famous spa that was opened in 1909 and operated until 1951.
Per MNOpedia, in 1951, the sanitarium was sold to the Black Franciscans, Order of Friars Minor Conventual, from Louisville, Kentucky. They named it Assumption Seminary and the site became linked with both the Colleges of St. Catherine and St. Thomas in St. Paul.
The Seminary remained in operation until 1970 and then sat vacant for many years, becoming a popular hangout for teens and other thrill seekers. The main building burned and was demolished in 1997.
The land is now home to the Minnesota DNR Seminary Fen Scientific & Natural Area that protects the rare calcareous fen that is now the star of the show here.

In a scene that has probably never played out before, a former Montana Rail Link SD35 leads a loaded grain train west on Genesse & Wyoming’s Mid Michigan Railroad at Merrill, Michigan. With the need to move the entire train of 105 loads from the elevator in Hemlock to the GLC interchange in Alma in one piece (something the MMRR’s single four-axel would be far from capable of) a trio of GLC locomotives were brought in to get the train over the road. GLC power on this portion of railroad is about a once-a-year occurance, and when I saw the MRL 705 in Laurel, Montana in August of 2019, I don’t think I could possibly have been convinced that just three years later I’d be watching it pull it’s guts out on a lightly used shoreline branch less than a half hour from my home in Mid Michigan, but here we are.

How exciting to be able to see this Bobolink, a life bird and rare bird to the area. This beauty seemed to like Elliot and perched several times right in front of him! It was up most of the time perching and preening then dropped down to the ground to hunt seeds.
I missed this bird three years ago in San Leandro at Oyster Bay. So happy to add this one to my list!!
The Agami Heron is a very rare sighting as they travel close to the edge of the rivers and if there is any noise they are quick to head for cover and safety. We were so fortunate to have seen one on our recent trip to the Pantanal, Brazil . It remained in view for quite some time and we were thrilled to be able to observe just how beautiful this agami heron is.

OK, probably not that rare since the crew is serving an operating scrap yard, but the first time I've ever seen this move in the 10+ years I've lived in the area, and on a Sunday no less.
The operator of this US Steel job is alert for fouled traffic as he prepares to cross East 20th Street and reenter the Granite City Works. The crew has swapped a long cut of empties for a presumably equal number of loads. The brakeman rides a shoving platform tacked on to the end of the string of gondolas.
Note the crane, one of at least two on this property, to the right of frame.
1916 Reading Standard (with sidecar) built in Reading Pa. These were manufactured from 1911 to 1924 when the brand was sold and discontinued.

The Chapada Diamantina National Park, created in the 80's, acts as a protector of this exuberance and all the natural beauty of the region, which includes beautiful waterfalls and imposing chapadões.

HL8298, a Bombardier CL-600-2B19 CRJ200, at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Mississauga, Ontario. Air Pohang was a scheduled airline that only operated from February 7 until November 29 during 2018. It was based at Pohang, Korea.
This aircraft (serial number 7834) started its career as JA206J with J-AIR Co., Ltd. at Hiroshima, Japan in August 2003. The other half of Air Pohang's fleet was HL8203, another CRJ200 (serial number 7391).
A Red Bellied Woodpecker and not a species we are used to seeing in our area. This is the first one I have seen in about 10 years.
48773 pilots 45407 at Long Marton on the S+C on 3/5/1999.
It only did 2 trips on the line.

Wikipedia: The Blackburnian warbler (Setophaga fusca) is a small New World warbler. They breed in eastern North America, from southern Canada, westwards to the southern Canadian Prairies, the Great Lakes region and New England, to North Carolina.
Blackburnian warblers are migratory, wintering in southern Central America and South America, and are very rare vagrants to western Europe.
These birds were named after Anna Blackburne, an English botanist.
Conservation status: Least Concern

Portrait of the first male Anna's Hummingbird recorded in Pennsylvania (two female Anna's Hummingbirds have previous been recorded in the state). This bird has been well documented viewed by many people.

With increased grain trains this season in Terre Haute, the siding used for interchange with CSX is not always available. So, on an as-needed basis, CSX takes cars fro INRD another 30 miles south to Sullivan, Indiana.
Last Friday, INRD job Palestine Utility 3 had the honors of going to retrieve 42 cars. The skies had grown progressively worse through the day as a cold front arrived, but that didn't stop me. I had long wanted a shot of INRD passing under the former Chicago & Eastern Illinois railroad coal dock.
Burlington Junction motor 701 sits in the sun perfect for one shot. A fascinating locomotive and history. Apparently only 26 were sold by Alco.
