Bike rack at Bellevue City Hall

A cheap solution to the wine rack problem, so long as you have a spare pine tree, a chain saw, some fencing staples, a bit of time, and a place that suits. The steel mesh was the only bit I had to buy - I think it was about $25 for each of the two sheets. The rack will hold 240 bottles.

After my el cheapo aluminum Axiom Journey rack broke in four welds and sheared one spar, I installed a Tubus Airy. I chose the Airy because it's very strong and light, with Tubus' extender adapter it clears my 700c wheel and fender, and it attaches to the brake bridge. The MMD lacks upper seat stay brazeons.

The wine rack is finished. It was fiddly rather than difficult, involved kneeling on the floor a lot … and putting in 63 screws !

It'll certainly get far more use than the ironing board :)

The top of this industrial entryway rack has a lot of flair, and can turn a humdrum area of the home into something much more.

Summer finally showed up at the end of September. I decided to go out an enjoy it. Figured I'd test out the Tourist with the new rack while I was at it. I like it!

demountable front rack, it unbolts and goes pretty flat for transport. smallish platform on top with a lower set of rails for panniers. integrated light mount with wire guides down to the dropout and back to the frame (for the the wired taillight).

Racks for two randonneuring bikes that I just built

Finally ordered a WorkCycles Pickup frame-fixed front carrier from Adeline Adeline in NYC... and I LOVE IT! Great capacity, really extends the function of this bike. I love how well it rides with a load up front. Can't wait to see what kind of weird loads I end up hauling.

Apologies for the crummy cell phone quality... 'real' photos coming as soon as I stop riding it to snap some nicer shots.

Also, funny story: the bike had been riding a little sluggish for the last few days. Got it home today and realized I had been riding on less than 10 PSI in the Fat Frank tires!

not only for millionaires:-)

I have been wanting a rack/shelf to put my nail polish on. I see them at the nail shops and really like them. I decided to look online and I found one. This one holds 90 bottles and I only have about half of it full. I guess it's better to have more storage room, then not enough. My husband hung this shelf up in my bathroom.

Oh yeah. I think it's selfexplanatory.

Server rack at the C4.

So pretty...

(Not powered on yet.. missing a modem, and a surge suppressor.)

Yes. The 2nd server is bent. Stupid UPS.

UP Auto-Rack train runs west on the Geneva Sub past the granary just west of GlobaIII. Near as we could tell this was a Ford Train loaded with Ford Explores and F150 pickups.

Before the finish work. Two more racks in the soak tank... The low-down: Three with detachable low-riders. Two for brazed-on Mafac Raid's. Two standard. Two with lights on rack. Six with light on my fender mount. Each fits an individual bike - nothing adjustable. A little bit of a task to keep it all straight, but fortunately I've kept good notes.

My brother spent hours clearing out the garage and to our amazement... look what he found! no not a woman! A pool table! well I just had to use it. I shot three models on this table and it just works as a place to snap a few shots. It also works great as a pool table! Although, I'm better at photography than pool!

Stobist: (First Time I used Three lights!!!!) just check out the highlights on her legs! I didn't do anything to them that's just how good they look with the lights hitting them.

Choose wisely, look through your selection of pallets and see if you can find a fairly decent plank in among them. I aim for about 5 inches wide and one inch thick with a minimum length of 24 inches. They're usually pine but you may drop lucky and have access to hard woods.

Prepare the timber, remove the nails and start sanding, I don't recommend using an electric planer unless you're really certain that you've got every piece of nail out of them. Even the dirt will dull blades and i advise against it. I'm a big belt sander user, start off with a 40 to remove the bulk of the rough and dirt and then move onto a 80 grit belt finishing off with a 120 sometimes or going to your pad sander so that you can also give the edges a rounding. How much you sand the timber is entirely down to you. I'm not a fan of the circular saw or band saw marks that are left after milling so i take these right out and down to the natural timber. You can take some of the sawdust and mix it with PVA glue to make a passable filler for the nail holes.

Find the center of the board and and draw a faint line horizontally along it. At each end and at about a 2 inches in drill a small pilot hole followed be a larger slightly recessed hole. These will be the holes for attaching the peg rail to the wall. For the coat pegs will require a bit of maths in determining the gaps between each peg depending on how wide you make your board and how many pegs your going to need. I usually put about 6 inches between my pegs.

Once you've got your holes marked its time to fit your pegs, i use wooden shaker pegs available from ebay. The shank is 10mm and that's what I use in the pillar drill, a pillar drill gives you accuracy and control that a hand held drill doesn't. Think about getting one cheap from the local buy sell groups. Drill your holes and give them a quick sand around the edge to remove any tearing if there is any. Put a smear of glue around the shank of the peg and push as far as you can into the hole, finish it off with a couple of taps from a wooden mallet.

You're basically done, just wait for it to dry. How you finish it is now down to you. Briwax is always a good choice, linseed oil, paint, there are many options available. My choice is Lichtenberg figure done with a microwave transformer.

houndstooth dovetailed clamp rack designed to hold 6 (very heavy) sash cramps

GONE - This rack is functional and attractive, and it can also be picked up and folded almost flat. The light, maple-colored wood lets it play well with mid-century furniture, much of which uses this tone.

The final part is ever the trickiest: close fit in all directions.
