GST Eastern Voles Christmas gathering at Flitton Moor

19/12/2017

Hi All & Tim

May I add my thanks to you all and wish you a happy Christmas and lots of good Voling together in 2018. I cannot wait. All those bonfires, cakes and sarcastic humour.

I thought I would be clever and write a piece about Tuesday incorporating some relevant quotes but the effort has quite overtaken me. So here instead are a few lines from a very wise & quotable Englishman .

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humour.

I loved her against reason, against promise, against peace, against hope, against happiness, against all discouragement that could be.

Never close your lips to those whom you have already opened your heart.

There are books of which the backs and covers are by far the best parts.

We forge the chains we wear in life.

No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of it to anyone else.

There are dark shadows on the earth, but its lights are stronger in the contrast.

The pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again.

Have a heart that never hardens, and a temper that never tires, and a touch that never hurts.

The whole difference between construction and creation is exactly this: that a thing constructed can only be loved after it is constructed; but a thing created is loved before it exists.

There are loads more to choose from and I have to say I was very surprised, perhaps I should read some of his books instead of relying on BBC Childrens Dramas from my earlier years when, hard to believe I was a sprog with hopes and the occasional dream, many of which have been far exceeded in life.

My snaps from Flitton are as usual at www.flickr.com/photos/pitzys_pyx/

Hi All,

Many thanks for all your hard work at Flitton Moor on Tuesday. We were slightly down on the usual numbers but it didn’t stop you getting a whole lot done! I know David was pleased with the result and in his own words:

Thanks to all those who turned out on Tuesday at Flitton Moor - you did an amazing job as always.

Re fencing: I was expecting at the very most that half of the fence would be completed - and you did 2 thirds of it. Well done. The FoFM will finish it shortly in the new year.

Thanks also to those who manned the fire - and dragged brash to it. Almost all the was cut down was burnt.

And a special mention to the 6 hardy souls who spent the morning digging nettles.

A Merry Christmas to all, and a healthy 2018,

David

Thank you also to Lucinda, Sue and Erika for helping out with refreshments at lunchtime and to Malcolm and Jackie for such a lovely cake.

The next Tuesday task will be at Sandy Smith on the 2nd January and will be doing a bit more thinning/coppicing in the plantation near the bridge over the Flit plus maybe a few other jobs.

But there will also be a task at Maulden Heath next Thursday (28th) if anyone wishes to come along. The task will be clearing brash and regeneration in the Adder Field and, of course, having a fire; meet at the Picnic Area at 10am.

Thanks for all your hard work this year and I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and Happy New Year!

If you're living in Europe, November 30 2010 marks the last day you can send in your Kodachrome films for developing. Which is such a shame, I actually can not find any words for it. At least no words which would be quotable.

I decided to use up my last roll during last summer on a trip to London, Cornwall & Brighton. Here it is.

IMDb profiles:

alleyezonme2:

www.imdb.com/user/ur4725436/boards/profile/

This was Erick's original IMDb account that was originally named "JabroniDrive". Following a summer of relentless exposure and humiliation, Erick experienced a history wipe of his account by the IMDb Administration but it didn't take long for him to build up a hefty new post history.

When Erick could no longer cope with being exposed, he self-deleted every post, waited for two weeks, changed his handle to "alleyezonme2" and attempted to hoodwink the entire Hip-Hop & Rap board into believing he was not Erick or the user that formerly called himself "JabroniDrive" in spite of truck loads of evidence being posted by various members proving him a liar.

This was Erick's original and most precious IMDb account and he self-deleted it in early December 2012. This was probably the most painful moment of his life and undoubtedly Erick's greatest loss but the Hip-Hop & Rap board's greatest hour.

To date there have been two new accounts but both were self-deleted as soon as he realised he'd been made.

Erick's other IMDb sock accounts include "Jabroni_Drive":

www.imdb.com/user/ur37901685/boards/profile/

But Erick also posts as:

jigglyboo:

www.imdb.com/user/ur5855785/boards/profile/

therhyme:

www.imdb.com/user/ur34616934/boards/profile/

There are more IMDb accounts.

A Tumblr was created dedicated to Erick capturing his best IMDb posts in what must surely be the greatest showcase of an idiot that speaks English as his first language but hasn't the slightest clue how to write. The Tumblr can be accessed here where the most quotable of his monumental guff, drivel, and claptrap can be enjoyed by anyone seeking a quick laugh at his expense.

trollingjabronidrive.tumblr.com/

His real name is Erick Smith, hailing from Indiana and currently living in Milwaukee. Employed as a busboy - most likely the Potawatomi Casino. He takes pride in acting like a retarded idiot with an amoeba for a brain, leading many to conclude he is in fact a retarded idiot with an amoeba for a brain.

Erick loves to pose as a lover of Hip-Hop culture representing the '90s, which according to Erick is the only decade of significant artistic merit in terms of TV and music output.

The ‘90s was a decade predating the lobotomy Erick underwent (which left him with a pronounced forehead). Clearly the result of a botched laboratory experiment, his presence on the IMDb Hip-Hop & Rap board proved that like all art forms, Hip-Hop is no different and has more than its share of people that simply don’t belong.

Social Services took pity on him and gave him employ as a busboy, a role he denies any involvement with.

Erick is a participating volunteer in the "Brain Heal" programme at his local psychiatric unit. When working hours are over, Erick returns to his padded room at the laughing academy where he is allowed access to his iPhone that he struggles to use in much the same way a chimp does a typewriter.

Erick's posts on websites such as IMDb and YouTube have become the stuff of legend proving beyond reasonable doubt that chimps can type, even if they can't spell.

Say Something

More important than saying something quotable is doing something memorable. President Obama delivers his first State of the Union Address.

These constitutionally required, periodic speeches to members of Congress have come to set the tone for the direction presidents hope to lead us in for the coming year.

If the president hopes to lead the nation back to work, he will outline a plan and leave the specifics up to Congress to sort out when they get his budget.

The next 90 days will be crucial. That's how much time remains before those seeking re-election this year have to start dedicating full time to campaigning or at least posturing for votes.

Health care? I said this week it may become a legacy issue. If Democrats want to hold what they've got, they have to own the Working America issue.

Decent jobs with decent pay represent a good start that could grow into great opportunities later.

"Great one term president?" I'm a history buff and I am really challenged to name them.

We're taking this operation on the road!

Between the West Park Arts Fest in Philadelphia and the Mixed Roots Film & Literary Festival in Los Angeles, we're conducting a 20 day, 20 state road trip.

We're going to be designing the whole way there and back of course, but in addition, Benjamin will be working on 20 new vector drawings for a gallery showing at Peace and a Cup of Joe in November. He'll be creating pieces to add to his Quotables collection (which you can see here: www.flickr.com/photos/benjancewicz/tags/quotables/)

We'll be posting our progress on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/Zerflin). You can also see our route here: goo.gl/maps/xJBR

This is where you come in!

Comment below with your favourite quote, and you could win a T-Shirt, pins, stickers, or even a canvas print of your quote!

Leave your favourite quote by a famous person below!

He hates that hat. I love it.

I know I quote my toddler A LOT but my 9 year old actually had a very quotable moment! We were in the car on the way home from school and Jake kept asking Stephen to read things and finally he hands him a bookmark for that Omnimax movie Hubble. So Stephen, being a good big brother is reading the information on the movie and gets to this part...

Stephen: "Narrated by Leo..Leo..Leonardo...Di..Di.."

Me: "DiCaprio?"

Stephen: "Yeah.. Narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio. Wow. He's still alive? He must be old."

Me: "Sweetie, you're thinking of Leonardo Da Vinci."

Done in the Quotables theme, I created this piece partly in response to a comission by celebrated author Heidi Durrow for her Mixed Experience History Month, which she single-handedly started in 2007. Nella Larson was featured in her website badge in 2012.

I was inspired by Nella Larson's writings myself, so I created this piece as well.

...Into modern English. Why should every other major language have a more understandable version of Shakespeare than we do? As someone who understands Shakespeare dialogue in real time better than the average bear, I had mixed feelings. Isn't that arduous chase part of the fun of it? (Sure, like fox hunting. And what a popular pastime that is!) And "Christ, what would Sharon Schuman think?" (Her course in English Renaissance poetry was one of my favorite classroom experiences ever.) But the idea stuck with me later that evening, and the next day, during the drive home; and while I had questions, it grew on me.

Quotable quote: "Translations are like lovers: the beautiful ones are not faithful, and the faithful ones are not beautiful." (This was not original to Hitz, who attributed it to one of the people he's worked with on this project.)

The unique thing about Margaret Rutherford is that she can act with her chin alone. Among its many moods I especially cherish the chin commanding, the chin in doubt, and the chin at bay. - Kenneth Tynan.

We select to do this post on the quotable be aware. Kenneth Tynan articulates their viewpoint upon Maggie Rutherford as well as the woman's behaving expertise. Spot the increased exposure of the actual face which suits the woman's shows. The woman's face, because the actual quotation pronounces, provides variegated moods. The woman's face is actually powerful, within question as well as away! Nicely, this particular quotation effectively demonstrated in spa Issaquah that exactly how essential your own face is actually. Via this particular quotation we might determine how the face is really a quiet feeling reflector. The reflection which certainly, decorative mirrors everything! Nicely, whenever your own face has got the natural possible to express this just about all, the reason why not really utilize this because your own verbalize(ur). Puzzled? Do not end up being. Just what can be a Chin Elevate?

Just before we all set about knowing just what chin elevate treatments have got inside the offing, we all must establish that of a chin elevate will be. Any chin elevate can be a medical procedure beneath the great industry regarding surgery treatment. The particular chin elevate might be a part method which is carried out independently or perhaps can go for any full renovation centering simply around the chin as well as the throat. The particular intent behind any medical procedure referred to as chin elevate is always to appropriate any dropping epidermis or even a chin which includes folds up below. The particular dropping is because of the particular too much build up regarding excess fat or perhaps epidermis muscle in which make up the particular outside level with the epidermis. One more purpose is Issaquah waxing also the particular looseness with the muscle within the skin color level.
