Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary. www.monkeyland.co.za/index.php
Monkeyland is the worlds first free roaming multi-specie primate sanctuary.
Monkeyland has as one of its aims, to create awareness about the plight of primates and to show that with a greater understanding of our primate cousins, that we can all live in harmony.
All of the primates in our Special Monkey Home are here due to their quirks, disabilities and/or old age. Some have poor eye-sight, others have had limbs amputated and some are well, just old and grumpy (or crazy). But, to us, they are all very special.
The lar gibbon (Hylobates lar), also known as the white-handed gibbon, is a primate in the gibbon family, Hylobatidae. It is one of the better-known gibbons and is often seen in zoos.
The fur coloring of the lar gibbon varies from black and dark-brown to light-brown, sandy colors. The hands and feet are white-colored, likewise a ring of white hair surrounds the black face. Both males and females can be all color variants, and the sexes also hardly differ in size.

The quirks you find in the Temperate Forests of British Columbia.
These are shot with a Canon 50mm 1.4, 'reverse-mounted' (a fancy term for literally holding the lens in place with my hand), and shot at f/8, and a shutter speed of 1/90 to 1/300.
This is tricky, with a focus distance of an inch or so, and a DOF of even less. Because of the overcast sky and the narrow aperture, high ISO needed to be used.

For GTWL: quirks. As far as shapes go, i think triangles are the most appealing. Meaning, they upset me a lot less than circles. I don't know why--i just find them more forgiving somehow. This is the view from my front door into the hallway. Sometimes i sort of stop and count the triangle shapes. There are a lot of them. That counts as a quirk right? Or is it an illness?
Lowood – C17 N°983 – 20.11.69 C17 N°983 has arrived at Lowood with 366Up goods on 20th November 1969. The driver and guard discuss proposed movements before commencing to shunt. This conversation and the ensuing cooperation between members of the crew resulted in the work being carried our as expediently as possible. The guard has donned his apron prior to coming forward to speak with his driver. This item of apparel was commonly used by guards to avoid soiling their clothes while coupling and uncoupling during shunting operations. The canvas hose on the side of the FGW water truck was used to fill line side tanks for fettling gangs. This duty was typically carried out weekly by designated trains on most rural lines.
Gympie – 227D DEL1410 – 19.3.68 The driver of DEL 1410 is sanding steadily as his engine battles to bring 227D alongside Apollonian Vale. The pipe in the foreground leads to the Distant Signal which can be glimpsed in the distance. A ‘D’ suffix on a train number in that era indicated the train was worked with a DEL.
This is a stitched composite of three photos captured in April of 2010 on the Green River in North Carolina. An earlier unprocessed version of the major component was posted then as well:

Although long my intention, it wasn't until recently that I felt ready to undertake to produce this version. In addition to stitching in the lower portion of the image, a substantial amount of work went into "cleaning" and cloning out leaves and other detritus that seemed to distract from the effect of the underlying subject: it is an open question as to the the success of this effort, let alone the wisdom.
