In QuickBooks, you can submit a customer cheque, and then enter a particular payment. This activity will overstate your earnings because your income has been filed by both the deposit and the invoice. If the deposit was in the past period of accounting and it cannot be altered, you can delete the payment entry from the payments. You required depositing zero amounts using the overstated account under income.
Important Note: Before removing the payment entry from Un-deposited Funds account, you must ensure:-
1. Consult to the accountant and you need to ensure that the income and tax impacts are recorded correctly for the last financial years.
2. Make backups of your data file without overwriting on another backup.
Follow below steps to delete deposited entry for un-deposited funds:-
Step 1 – Open Banking menu and move on the Make Deposits option
Step 2 – go to the Deposits section under Payments subject and choose the payment(s) which that was deposited particularly and click on the OK button.
Note : In the Make Deposits window, payment should be appear.
Step 3 – Go to on the Make Deposits option and open it. Choose the 'From' Account column and go to the overstated income option and choose it to delete un-deposited payment for deposited item.
Step 4 – fill the negative amount of payment in the Amount column. You need to make sure that the Total of Deposit must be zero.
Step 5 – Click on ‘Save’ button to secure all the changes made and click on the Close button.
