These were quick sketches I did of my daughter last evening while she was watching tv. But even then she was not still, so these were very quickly drawn! I sketched in graphite then added watercolor pencil, brushed lightly with water, in my hand.book journal.
Okay, so this was pretty quickly done, but just to explain...
4 years ago I moved with my family from Ipswich to Hailsham. but all our family live in Ipswich so we go back every so often to see them, normally Grandparents :)
This is Gainsborough Library... which I guess is a pretty boring thing to take pictures of, but this place has a lot of memories for me. I should say, that this isn't the building from when I was a kid, because they tore it down & built it like this. But still, it works in my head. I miss being like, 5 and going to get books out with my mum & sisters :/

Some quick after work shots of Egon (now named Pelsan) in the other wig. Much better. :) Cruddy phone pics, but I'm so happy with him! Something about the extra blush just made this faceup attempt so much better for me.

Playing around with zooming while shooting today. Kind of a cool effect. Certainly not for everyday use, but makes for a neat break from the standard.

Monster Of The Day: July 25th, 2008
A recipe for risotto that doesn't involve a half-hour of stirring gets my attention. Lisa McKinney of Fairmount felt the same way. She writes, "Being a rushed, harried cook, like most people, I consider a quick way to make good risotto a gift from heaven. . . . This microwave method, in addition to being much faster and less tedious, produces a creamy risotto with just the right amount of resistance to the tooth, or 'bite, ' as I call it."
Quick hike up around "The Mountain" last weekend. First time I've been on the montain and actually able to see it. All other hikes have been buried in fog, snow and/or rain. Many of the wildflowers were still in bloom. This is just a landscape version of the image above. Couldn't decide which one I liked better, so I posted them both.
Just a few quick shots of 2 MAN buses from Valley Flyer working the 145 route services to/from Belmont/Queensgate. The purple bus is standard Valley Flyer livery while the Yellow bus is an ex Go Wellington bus reallocated to Valley Flyer, rebranded but still waiting a visit to the paint shop.
A lunchtime special - beansprouts, shredded yellow pepper, carrot and cabbage were quickly stir fried along with Tianjin preserved vegetable, chili bean paste, and a splosh of rice wine, and then brought to the boil in a pan of chicken stock.
Here are a few quick sketches I did with a still life and a cheap brush ($3 sumi) and scraps of matte board.
It felt good to do these and not worry about precision or going over penciled lines. I tried to get all Bob Ross and let my 'happy accidents' land where they may.
I hope to do more like this with different subject matter.
Been looking at a lot of Ashley Wood, Clive Barker and John Muth.
