A quick escape on Lazy Sunday proved rewarding when the skies above me in North Bend, Wa opened up nearing sunset. Not that we had a real destination, my friend and I ended up along this trail and I noticed this comp with a pasture puddle. With fresh snow and storm clouds abound, Mt Si catches some rays and a reflection.

Quick tour of a century-old former Catholic school. The library room still had books in it, though it hadn’t been used as a school for 40 years at this point.
It’s in one of those old industrial cities that lost a third of its population as its industries shrank. Among those moving on were the children of the Polish immigrants who built this parish.
There is a silence near the old stone bridge of Jormua, which is only broken by the quiet wind. But in some cases, roaring trains dominate the sounds of the environment, like in the case of Fenniarail's freight train that is making a quick crossing as Vectron hauls wagons to the other side of the Arctic Circle.
It was a very cloudy day and I was taking a nap at the campground. 30 minutes before sunset the clouds started to look interesting. So I quickly got up and rushed 2KM to my spot. It only took me 20 minutes, my trail walking record :)
I snapped this quick shot with my cell phone and posted it on Instagram this afternoon. I wasn't going to use it for today's photo, but I liked it, so why not!

For The Teleidoscope's Theme: Speed
How appropriate that the Teleidoscope's theme "speed" falls right in the middle of the busiest running month for me :) Tomorrow is another 10km race, hoping I do well!
Yesterday during my long run I was thinking about how much running has started to become such an important part of my life. A few years ago I never would have thought that I would be training not only for my 4th marathon, but also to qualify for the Boston Marathon. I added up all the races that I've done in the past 3 years and the number actually surprised me: 21. Some of them were short, some were marathons but all of them have helped me to realize my own capacity and my own drive and have changed my life in the best possible way.

The severe hurricane "Beryl" has made its way through the Caribbean. According to the US hurricane center NHC, it has been downgraded to the second-highest category 4. Accordingly, the hurricane with wind speeds of up to 250 kilometers per hour is now just below the threshold for category 5.
Never before has there been a hurricane of this strength so early.
Normally there are around 6 hurricanes in the season. This time, meteorologists are expecting up to 13 cyclones.
The seas are too hot. How long will it stay like this?
And in the US, voters are ready to elect a liar and criminal and climate change denier like Donald Trump, whose plans to dismantle democracy have long been known. I'd rather vote for a Biden, even in the ICU, because he has a passable surrogate.
I can no longer understand our friends, the Americans, at the moment.

Der schwere Hurrikan "Beryl" hat sich auf seinem Weg durch die Karibik begeben. Wie das US-Hurrikanzentrum NHC mitteilte, wurde er zur zweithöchsten Kategorie 4 heruntergestuft. Demnach liegt der Wirbelsturm mit Windgeschwindigkeiten von bis zu 250 Kilometern pro Stunde nun knapp unterhalb der Schwelle zur Kategorie 5.
Noch nie gab es so früh einen Wirbelsturm dieser Stärke.
Normalerweise gibt es ca. 6 Wirbelstürme in der Saison. Diesmal rechnen die Meteorologen mit bis zu 13 Wirbelstürmen.
Die Meere sind zu aufgeheizt. Wie lange wird das so bleiben?
Und in den USA sind die Wähler bereit einen Lügner und Kriminellen und Klimaveränderungs-Leugner wie Donald Trump zu wählen, dessen Pläne, die Demokratie aufzulösen längst bekannt sind. Da würde ich lieber einen Biden, selbst auf der Intensiv-Station wählen, denn der hat eine passable Stellvertreterin.
Ich kann unsere Freunde, die Amerikaner, im Moment nicht verstehen.

Spectacular Sky & Sea Splitting Sunset Seaside Scene - IMRAN™
It is incredible how quickly time and life fly. I have not posted anything from my laptop since late August. That is when I finally made it back to New York for the first time after nearly 18-months of staying in Florida during the pandemic.
It was great to be back in my forever-American-hometown, Manhattan, New York City for an annual reunion with my childhood friends. We had skipped last year's meetup because of the much worse and uncertain pandemic situation then. Now we were all fully vaccinated, and still fully masked when near others or for appropriate situations.
I also made it to my blessed Long Island home for the first time m that period too. I am so blessed both my Florida and my New York homes survived Hurricane Herni and Hurricane Irma in quick succession respectively.
I honestly did not get a chance to do 10% of what I thought I would get done during my New York homestay. But the beautiful beloved girl who took up my time during those days now owes me a week-long visit to ensure I catch up on my tasks there. LOL. But, no, I am not complaining.
Back home in Apollo Beach this week, I only managed to take out my drone for a quick sunset flight tonight. Summer is still here, but it is right after the Labor Day weekend. This is an HDR (high dynamic range) photo from two regular photos. They were taken with the 5-years old DJI Phantom 4 drone.
I found it interesting how the sharply cut-off low clouds over the Saint Petersberg horizon make the right one-third of the sea (or Tampa Bay water in this case) appear such a different color than the left. Enjoy this moment of gratitude with me at Maghreb prayers time.
