It's wonderful to feel the warmth of the sun after a long winter and these little crocus flowers seem to echo that sentiment as they reach out of the shadows to embrace the light. They have to be quick - tonight it snows again.
Some days it pays to get up early!
This image has been sitting in a folder for almost a year -- the time to process it was today.

A quick weekend trip down to Roanoke with some friends led to some good times. The first train we saw was was this 29C with the S&A heritage leading west.

Quickly another selfie or something interesting on the other side of the small bridge.
Everywhere, really everywhere you see bicycles here. It is the most popular means of transportation to get through the many alleys. Btw....the world leader in bike ownership is the Netherlands, there are more bikes than people...
It seems that nexus gone crazy over there... just been there to download something, an hour later, it says that I have 73 notifications, yet when I open to see... nothing new, only one new.
BNSF ES44DC 7458 leads a westbound BNSF empty grain train through Parkville with a very distinct (to say the least) look on its nose. Back in 2013, BNSF 7458 was involved in a wreck that had caused damage to the nose and plow that needed to be repaired. After a quick fix and paint match at Topeka, BNSF 7458 was back out on the rails. However, 11 years later, the quick patch job has turned into a fading mess that has begun to show the original brown and grey primer once again.

so lucky to find this open stall in a market to buy this (GUESS WHAT IT IS) for a quick repair of my back pack
There is a silence near the old stone bridge of Jormua, which is only broken by the quiet wind. But in some cases, roaring trains dominate the sounds of the environment, like in the case of Fenniarail's freight train that is making a quick crossing as Vectron hauls wagons to the other side of the Arctic Circle.
My happy place was very busy today so I didn't stay too long. The birds were chirping but so were the people and when it's that crowded I don't really enjoy being there.
So a quick shot and I was off. Hopefully I find some solitude or at least (less small talk) next time.
Hope everyone has had a good day.

Guess what. You're looking at only 4g of carbs in this photo. Considering my goal in achieving a ketogenic state, I've been looking for ways to increase my fat-intake and to lower the carb-intake. Almond flour is a major component to creatively output these ideas. This morning I was able to enjoy something bread-like. It's been so long since I've enjoyed something like this. It only took 5 minutes to prep this. I did use a mug and a high-powered microwave to heat the batter. Within two minutes, I was eating one of the most heavenly creations made for someone lastingly deprived of carbohydrates.
Thought I might have caught this clean pair in the Otira valley for a few shots, but here he is already at Jacksons.

I finally got a usable photo of the barn swallow (Hirundo rustica) in flight as well during 2022.
They are hard to catch in their quick flight for insects above the water. I finally found a spot where it was pretty easy to follow their route for a good result.

Quick little last min trip down the beach, as had been waiting in all day for a delivery. A new Nikon D750, as i arrived at the beach a little wet, a gap appeared in the clouds hail fell and a rainbow appeared so managed to grab a quick snap and its probably the happiest iv been with a quick snap iv taken before. Really looking forward to using this kit and getting the most out of the camera :)
In need of a quick time out amongst the hustle and bustle of a busy city? You find the nearest bench and take five minutes right? Wrong. You just roll in to the market square on your bicycle, strike a pose and rest your eyes for a moment or two. Wish I was this cool and relaxed!
Putting this amongst the assembled pictures of handbags currently all over Flickr. Wondered what was occurring but then realised it was Macro Mondays time. Gotta love theme days, I actually do wish there were more. Nice to have a challenge!
