I forgot how much i miss it...but at the same time, i forgot how afraid of the dark i am...anyone know how to avoid that fear of being in an empty field at night all alone and NOT freak out? :/ anyhoo, like i said, i hope you like it.

Quick Report @ Dream Party 2013 Autumn

I was on a photo walk and nothing was working out very well. I was heading back to the car and saw this wall so I decided to grab a shot or two not really expecting it would amount to anything. As is often the case, the "throw away" shot of the day ended up being the keeper. That is what I love about photography: the shot you like can happen at ANY time.

Quick Report @ Dream Party 2013 Autumn

I just made this shot to show a friend what you can do using a colored gel (CTO in this case) to color a white wall behind your subject.

Oh, btw, didn't use the lens to brag, it was the only item available on my desk that was large enough to hide the flash. I'm just a starving student after all. :)

Front feet planted and heeled-over hard, off to menace the robins.

Hot Toys Iron Spider, Spider-Man (Tom Holland) appeared in the Avengers 3 Infinity War. Tom’s head sculpt is the same as the one from Homecoming set except the eyes looking forward instead of looking left included in the previous set. Also included is one more masked head with light up function and but of course the golden Iron Spider Pincers! Nice! Now looking forward to those figs from the Far From Home.

I recorded what I did, and decided to share it here. Invented on the spot, it looked and tasted good enough to repeat. Got home from errands at 3pm rather hungry, having had only an apple for lunch. Here's what got mixed together and stuffed into whole wheat pita bread. Carrot sticks and sliced orange on the side. As I like to say, "You'd pay such-and-such for this in the Fancy Sandwich Shop!"

Enough for two hungry adults.

VegPita

Chopped by hand, but I suppose one could do it in a processor using quick bursts, but be careful not to turn it to mush. Hand is better, in my opinion, for something you want in small chunks/dice.

1/2 spear broccoli, raw

1/2 medium carrot, raw, peeled and grated (slice rest of carrot in sticks for side of plate)

2 cloves garlic, chopped

bit of onion, if you have it--I didn't bother

small chunk of firm tofu

2 T. cottage cheese

1 T. mayonnaise

2 t. curry powder

healthy shake of salt and pepper, to taste

chopped fresh tarragon from the garden, or whatever leafy herb appeals

Mix well together and stuff into pita halves. Lettuce leaves and more mayo would make it prettier, but also add calories. It was quite good plain!

Enjoy!

My brother in law and I stopped in at the Yardhouse for a couple of beers while my wife and daughter supposedly went back to the hotel for a nap.

The beer we chose was out and so they gave us this sample while we waited for the keg to be changed.

My wife has impeccable timing and so a couple of beers quickly became one :(

Just wanted to share some shots of my completed Q500. It's a fantastic little airplane, and the kit went together quickly and easily. Great job with the design.

I've chosen to power mine with a four stroke Saito FA40. I'm amazed by the flight envelope of this airplane. At full power it will go anywhere you point it, yet at idle it slows down remarkably well. At half power or just a little under it cruises effortlessly.

I convinced the wife to come out with her camera and have some nice pictures I'd like to share. Thanks again for a great kit.

Well, this was another of those last second shots; and it shows! Having come to a standstill in traffic on the A460 Cannock Road at Wolverhampton, I saw the chance to take this photo; it's all a bit crowded, it's all a bit rushed, but for no particular reason I can explain, ...I like it. :-)

I was sick a few days ago, but the weather was just too nice not to take advantage of. So, I took out little Dorothy Sienna for some pictures. She had fun, and as it turns out, she is a natural tree climber! :D

Only had about 15min before the clouds rolled in. Didn't have time to even power up... just free hand the telescope.

Just making a nice coffee and then a quick chapter or two of the current book that I'm reading!!

My first attempt at a new Nigel Slater recipe - "quick mildly-spiced beef". Beef, onions, garlic, ground cumin, ground coriander, garam masala, stock, grain mustard, cream, fresh parsley garnish. The beef I used came out a bit tough but otherwise it was very tasty. Maybe I'll use meatballs next time to be sure the meat is tender...

The rippling effect under this applique - which admittedly is being highlighted by high-sunlight contrast - could likely be diminished further by adding some batting between the patch and the garment and garment seam. If other readers have ideas, I'd love to hear it.

Stitching: I stitched a small zig zag around the edge, then a triple stitch in red. I love the triple stitch because it gives a nice topstitching-weight "pop" in whatever color standard-weight thread you have.

i was awaken really early in the morning by her, so I quickly set up a speed light, opened the window and asked her to frame her head and stand against the wall of my living room. soon after, I went back to sleep

I took a chance on this Voigtlander Vitoret, sold as is on eBay. Upon receiving it, the shutter and advance were stuck. Turns out those pieces highlighted in purple had come loose, so it was jamming the advance mechanism, so the shutter could not be armed. A little Google search and I found a reference photo from a similar camera, so I was able to figure out that the piece is like an anchor for screwing the top cover. Did a little cleaning too and the camera should be ok to shoot. It's a very basic camera, but much better than the basic re-loadable, plastic point and shoots they sell now.

After missing the first two days of Texans training camp before agreeing to a five-year, $14 million contract Saturday, outside linebacker Brian Cushing is eager to get on the practice field today with his new teammates.

Cushing, the first-round draft choice from Southern California, is getting $10.435 million in guaranteed money to become the starter on the strong side and help improve a defense that ranked 22nd last season, including 23rd against the run.

“I’m just relieved and excited to have this done,” Cushing said. “I’m ready to play football and help the team win.”

Cushing (6-3, 262) was in Los Angeles when agent Tom Condon reached the agreement with general manager Rick Smith and director of football administration Chris Olsen.

Cushing’s contract could be worth a maximum of $18 million over five years.

In the fifth year of his deal, there’s a clause that could earn him an additional $4 million in an escalator bonus.

Odds are that Cushing’s contract will be extended before he enters the fifth season in 2013.

Smith and Olsen will have all eight of their draft choices under contract when the Texans take the field for the third day of two-a-day drills at their Methodist Training Center.

“It’s very important to have him signed,” coach Gary Kubiak said. “Rick and Chris were up at 3 in the morning trying to get it done. They’ve done a good job.

“Brian’s two days behind now, but he didn’t miss anything we did in the offseason program, so that’s a good thing. He wanted to be here while we were working on the contract, but he couldn’t.”

Rookies who have signed with the Texans report a week early for conditioning and meetings before practicing for the first time with the veterans. Cushing wanted to report with the rookies.

He was working out at Reliant Stadium last week when the Texans had to explain league rules that forced him to leave.

Cushing took what turned out to be a quick trip back to Los Angeles. He returned to Houston on Saturday afternoon.

Texans coaches are excited to get him on the practice field.

“We’re going to put the pads on (Sunday morning), and I know he’s chomping at the bit to get out there,” Kubiak said.

After the Texans used the 15th pick in the first round on Cushing, they inserted him into the starting lineup. He impressed his coaches in the organized team activities and minicamp.

“We like his presence on the ball,” Kubiak said, meaning Cushing has a knack for finding the ball and making plays. “He’s playing over the tight end, and we’re going to ask him to do a great deal. We think he can handle it.

“Brian’s very athletic. He’s physical against the run. He can rush the passer. He can drop into coverage. We brought him here for a reason, and we’re going to put him to work real fast.”

Frank Bush, who is in his first season as defensive coordinator, has to make calls that maximize Cushing’s strengths. The faster Cushing learns, the quicker Bush plans to utilize all his talent.

“We’re going to try to take advantage of all his talent,” Bush said. “Because he’s such a talented kid, there are a lot of things we can do with him.”

The coaches say they think Cushing has everything it takes to become a star at his position.

“Brian can turn and run with the tight end,” Bush said. “He’s big and strong enough to strike them at the line of scrimmage and nullify some of their speed down the field, so we’re comfortable with him in coverage.

“His ability also gives us a chance to be aggressive toward the quarterback. He’s a big guy who’s shown he can get there.”

Quick family shot.
