Usually one of the many private residents gardens to be found in Edinburgh's New Town, Charlotte Square Gardens opens it's gates during the Edinburgh Festival to play host to the Book Festival.
We arrived at around 8:55 PM (ticket sales begun at 9 PM) and the queue was already (consider the fact that the town is ridiculously small) quite long. By the time we reached the pub doors, the queue went well around the bend.

In the temple grounds outside where the main stuff was going on. There is free lunch avaliable! It seemed to be taking a while to get to the front of the queue

I think that this sign is being inclusive, and saying that little monsters can queue here too, but they might be best advised to stand back a little from families.
