Back in The UK for a few days.

Petrol is still expensive, so expensive that the pumps queue for customers.

A kilometer away on a football pitch, Solidarités had been registering about a thousand newly arrived people since 08h00.

A broad mix of people were waiting patiently and good humouredly in the rain to collect their tokens entitling them to plastic sheeting, cooking sets, blankets and food that would be handed out a couple of days later.

After a lot of activity and lunch, people lined up to get clicked.

Dumbledore (me) with the guys that were next to us in the queue.

These were the main people we hung around with during the day, and they were all really cool.

The well publicised waiting area in University Road, where the road had been closed and people queued in a large penned-off area, rather like cattle.

Queuing at the entrance

That's the queue you have to wait an August day before coming in the Belem Tower, one of the most beautiful monuments in Lisbon. We were quite lucky since we didn't have to wait too long.

This was my queue for the bus home. That little square on the horizon is my actual bus stop. Poor me! But the people behind me had it worse, as the queue continued about the same number of people behind me as in front of me.

Playing around in the garden, the birds were quite skittish today, probably recovering from the fireworks last night. Thank you in advance for any comments or likes.

Open days at Airport [BER]

This was the queue that we spent almost an hour in waiting to check in for the flight to Melbourne in the early hours of Sat morning. 6am departure and we arrived to airport just after 4:35am. I took this photo after we'd been queuing about 20 mins! Needless to say the flight was delayed as queue wasn't exactly moving along that fast!

....... patiently for the bird feeder is what this little Dunnock (or Hedge Sparrow) was doing today, puffed up against the cold.

These little birds were in decline in the 1980's but are now increasing in numbers again. They are quite territorial little characters and there will usually only be one or two in a garden ........ and they are very competitive with the Robins !
