This is a shot of the Spanish mission ruins at Quarai. This is one of the ruins that make up the Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument. Definitely worth a stop if you ever come to New Mexico. (A article from the NY Times can be found here).

An Eurasian Scops Owl (Otus scops) was caught with a serious query in eyes while it was resting under shades. The camouflage was incredible and it left me stand for whole day yet it didn't change its positions from the same spot. Whatever nature offers us has to be accepted and here I had to accept the dead leaf masking a little portion on the right. Interestingly it was the first record of the Owl here. Pics was taken from Kolkata, West Bengal, India.

I was listening to "Marooned" by Pink Floyd while working on this image. One thing kind of led to another. An adult beverage may have been involved.
