This was on one of our camera nights and one of our clubs members was happily flying his DJI Phantom quadcopter, when he caught the harbour wall and dropped in the sea! Luckily a fisherman hooked it out with his rod ! I hope it's okay - I haven't seem him again yet !

We arrived with cars full with RC gear - copters, planes, quads. Sadly, the road was blocked so we had to take the absolute minimum.

Advantages Of Quadcopter Mapping Methods

 

A quadcopter, sometimes referred to as a quadsfly, is a kind of plane with four rotating blades. These days a Quadcopter is often used for filming sports events or for filming aerial footage. There are four rotating blades that make up this type of plane and it has become an important part of military aviation due to its versatility. While quadsfly helicopters were originally used for stunt flying, they are now used by both civilian and military aircraft.

 

The first disadvantage of a Quadcopter was that it could only be flown in a straight line. It soon became possible to correct the flight path by altering the angle of the blades by rotating them. This improved the Quadcopter’s agility and allowed it to be used in more complex flight scenarios. Other improvements to the Quadcopter such as increased range and weight helped improve its use in combat situations, however, these improvements did not eliminate the drawbacks.

 

One of the biggest disadvantages of the Quadcopter is the limited maneuverability, it presents. It cannot turn very quickly, which limits the areas you can fly in. Quadcopter flight plans generally require large areas of clear skies for optimal performance. A major problem in smooth flight is the large signature that a Quadcopter generates when it is in motion. Most insurance companies will not insure a flyer if it cannot be positively identified as being airborne.

 

Another advantage of a Quadcopter is the lower cost of operation than fixed-wing aircraft. Some experts believe it will take thirty years before fully fledged Quadcopter versions will be available. The lower initial costs make them practical for first-time hobbyists and prevent the need for a large investment in up-front fees. However, most experts agree that the future of these crafts is tied to improved technology.

 

There are some advantages that the fixed-wing aircraft has over these new multi-rotor drones. These include the ability to gain altitude and move quickly, but the lack of ability to hover. While some models have been introduced with a self-autonomous landing system, most are still not fully automated. For example, most models will only recover their aerial view when they hit the ground. Additionally, most are unable to avoid high winds and other airborne obstacles. In contrast, Quadcopter models are equipped with software that allows them to navigate through most obstacle free areas.

 

The main advantage of these new crafts is the increased flexibility. They can be flown indoors and outdoors without any impact to the battery power source and operating costs. They offer a much larger field of view than the fixed-wing aircraft. This allows for more precise maneuvering during a flight and more accurate mapping. This is an important part of the military arena as accurate mapping is needed for extensive research in certain areas. While there are other benefits such as greater portability and a longer flying time, there are many personal reasons why people prefer the Quadcopter model.

 

The first personal reason to use a Quadcopter is that it allows a user to get a bird’s eye view of an area before taking off. It allows the user to see the terrain and other features of a destination in a faster and safer way. By mapping the area, users can avoid making critical errors that could potentially cost them the trip. They can also map out possible hazards and prepare for any high winds or other obstacle that might be experienced during the trip. By avoiding these mistakes, the user is able to reduce the potential risk of an injury while on a hike or fly fishing.

 

Another advantage of these machines is that they are more aerodynamic than fixed-wing aircraft. This results in a lower airspeed and better fuel efficiency. In addition to this, they can also operate at higher altitudes because of the lift generated by the rotors. The rotors also reduce the noise in the cabin and allow for greater control. Quadcopter rotors are also very lightweight, which makes them easier to store and transport.

Being flown by a visitor to Thursley Common National Nature Reserve, Surrey. After a short discussion to make him understand that legislation other than the Air Navigation Order governs use of drones, including the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, he brought it down and walked off just carrying it, which is the only reason his photo is not alongside this one...

 

The thing that baffles me is why anyone with two brain cells to rub together would think that there has to be a law for them not to fly a drone in a National Nature Reserve (or for that matter in a Local Nature Reserve or any other wildlife sanctuary)? Surely the smallest smidgen of common sense would lead one only to visit a nature reserve to engage with nature and not risk disturbing it?
