It is difficult to convey the immensity of the Pyramids - they're a little less than 50 stories tall, and it makes them seem smaller when you look at the wide base, but when you are actually there, you're like "OH YEAH THESE THINGS ARE HUGE."

The Giza Necropolis (Arabic: أهرامات الجيزة‎, "pyramids of Giza") is an archaeological site on the Giza Plateau, on the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt. This complex of ancient monuments includes the three pyramid complexes known as the Great Pyramids, the massive sculpture known as the Great Sphinx, several cemeteries, a workers' village and an industrial complex. It is located some 9 km (5 mi) inland into the desert from the old town of Giza on the Nile, some 25 km (15 mi) southwest of Cairo city centre. The pyramids, which have always loomed large as emblems of ancient Egypt in the Western imagination, were popularised in Hellenistic times, when the Great Pyramid was listed by Antipater of Sidon as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is by far the oldest of the ancient Wonders and the only one still in existence.

The pyramids at Giza

The Khufu pyramid, known to many Europeans by its greek name Cheops, is the biggest pyramid ever built and was one of the Seven Wonders of antiquity. A concrete museum, housing the solar bark found in 1954, can be seen between the pyramid and the three small Queens' pyramids.

Built for pharaoh Khufu (circa 2589–2566 BC) the pyramid is made up of 2,3 million blocks of stone, with the average weight of 2,5 tons. Some stones weigh up to 15 tons. The pyramid was originally 146,5 meters high (before the casing stones were removed), and 230 meters along the base. Today it's "only" 138,8 meters high.
