I was lucky to pull over off the side of Nevada 447 and witness one of the most spectacular lightning storms I have ever seen. This is one of my favorite frames from nearly an hour of shooting this magnificent display, just after sunset.
The Louvre Pyramid (Pyramide du Louvre) is a large glass and metal pyramid, surrounded by three smaller pyramids, in the main courtyard (Cour Napoléon) of the Louvre Palace (Palais du Louvre) in Paris. The large pyramid serves as the main entrance to the Louvre Museum. Completed in 1989,[1] it has become a landmark of the city of Paris.

Sony A7RV combined with Sigma 70mm Macro. My barbeque pit cover in the rain and trying to photograph water droplets. To my surprise the palm trees overhanging the pit show up reflected in a water drop. The prismatic effect in the drop produces the pyramids, and it reminds me of when I visited the Great Pyramid many years ago. I did a fairly extreme crop in light room. Some contrast and sharpening for effect. Many ask why do you need a 61 megapixel sensor? This photo is my answer.

I re-processed a picture that I had previously posted and I think I like this version better. Feel free to let me know which version you like better. The Luxor Hotel & Casino HDR. (Combination of 3 photos -2ev and +2ev used CS3)
Commissioned by the Pharaoh Sneferu, the bent pyramid was an example of the earlier attempts to build a freestanding pyramid.
After attempting to complete the pyramid at 54 degrees from the base, the builders had to correct the shape to 43 degrees to top off the pyramid.
This pyramid was largely regarded as a failure and Sneferu ended up commissioning the Red Pyramid shortly after.

Accessible only by a boat or hazardous swim, Pyramid Rock is a remnant of a lava flow resting on a basement of Woolamai Granite. At low tide there is an extensive area of granite exposed, the largest outcrop of this material outside Cape Woolamai. The basalt is surrounded by an apron of coarse scree and gravel beaches, the dark colour of this material contrasting with the lighter coloured granite. This is one of the few locations on Phillip Island where the lava flows are absent or very thin and represents a high point on the pre-volcanic land surface.
This is the best exposure of the base of the older volcanics on Phillip Island and a major example of the contact between the volcanics and the pre-volcanic land surface. The presence of inter-volcanic gravels indicates the Woolamai Granite was probably never completely covered by lava flows.
This is from a breath taking at sunrise at Pyramid lake in early December. This is a 3 bracket shot. I love the reflections on this The orange rays in the clouds remind me the flames and burning embers of a dying camp fire.
The Transamerica Pyramid is the tallest skyscraper in the San Francisco skyline and one of its most iconic. Although the building no longer houses the headquarters of the Transamerica Corporation, it is still strongly associated with the company and is depicted in the company's logo. Designed by architect William Pereira and built by Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction Company, at 260 m (850 ft), upon completion in 1972 it was among the five tallest buildings in the world.
The tower has no public access except for the first floor lobby, thus visitors cannot ascend to the top for a panoramic view.
is the smallest of the three main Pyramids of Giza, located on the Giza Plateau in the southwestern outskirts of Cairo, Egypt. It is thought to have been built to serve as the tomb of the fourth dynasty Egyptian Pharaoh Menkaure.
On our last evening in Jasper, the weather cleared so we went to Patricia and Pyramid Lakes for the sunset. There wasn't much colour but there were beautiful reflections.

"The famous story of the inhuman creature who lurks forever in the human imagination."
The vast funerary complex of king Djoser at Saqqara is the earliest in Egypt to make extensive use of stone masonry. Surrounded by a 10-m high fortification wall lined with bastions like those seen in the foreground, it can only be entered through one gate at the southeast. Behind looms the stepped mastaba (conceived as five "bench" tombs stacked on top of one another) concealing a network of subterranean burial chambers. The tallest monument in the world in its day, it inaugurates the period of rapid innovation that culminated in the enormous 4th-dynasty pyramids of Khufu and Khafre at Giza.
Commissioned by the 3rd Dynasty king Djoser to celebrate his eternal rule as a divinity (reflected by his ruling title Netjerikhet), the many architectural innovations found here are credited to the designer Imhotep, the first architect whose name has been recorded for posterity. Old Kingdom, early 3rd Dynasty, 27th century BCE.
