Not bad for an 11 year old photographer, eh? This is my favorite of all his mushroom pics. There is such movement in it. It's almost a portrait of him, so new but growing and pushing his way up to find a place in the world. Yeah, yeah. I know it's cheesy, but that's what we doting moms do. Still, he rolls his eyes and says "Oh, Maaaaaaaahm" every time he reads this. :)
He is always looking to improve his skills and is genuinely interested in getting some critical advice on this, so I am posting it in a few comment groups for him. Be honest with him. He can take it.

Update 11/2008: He entered this image in Reflections, an art contest run by the national PTA. Up against other photos by sixth, seventh and eighth graders in our home town, this was chosen to move on and compete at the the counsel level, which includes 10 schools. I couldn't be more proud. Click here to see how happy he was the day he got the news.
Update 1/2009: He won at the counsel level as well and is now moving on to compete at the regional level, which covers two full school districts.

OK, SO I'VE BEEN WANTING TO DO THIS PHOTO FOR TWO YEARS NOW. AND I FINALLY FOUND THE RIGHT MOMENT TO DO IT. THIS PHOTO ITSELF TOOK THREE MONTHS TO ACCOMPLISH. It actually came out a lot darker than I anticipated. So whoops on that. But it was a fun experiment, and it was pretty challenging. But I am really happy with how it came out. :3
I've seen other artists do things similar to this, and I really just wanted to give it a try. :)
