For Push 9 of flickr's Get Pushed group, I was paired with the totally talented Fragglerocks for an amazing time. We agreed to work together as each of us was going to a local show featuring old vehicles and people in costume. Me in Northern California and Fraggs in Northeast England. We had a particular time to email back and forth as we're 8 hours apart. Plan was for me to go to a really strange steampunk event, The Handcar Regatta handcar-regatta.com/ , and Fraggs to a classic car show at The Beamish Museum of Living History. Looked like it was going to rain both places on Sunday and our alternative was to photograph "Rain" with no postprocessing. I whined and whined about that, but F stayed firm. It did rain and I did do a rain shot SOOC that's posted here and later it cleared up a bit and I went to my event.
After the event we shared images and decided which to pair for the push. We are posting 4 pairs. Enjoy.
The D90 has a button bottom left of the camera which alters the quality. This button is IMO in a really vunerable place, especially as I have a habit of wrapping the strap around my wrist for security and stability. So twice now over the last few days my quality setting has been changed from RAW to JPEG Basic while on the job, as it were.
What's interesting is before this it has never happened. before. What's irritating is I like to shoot in RAW and never choose JPEG, doubly irritating because it chose basic, which loses a lot of the data to enable a small file size. So above is an example which could have been so much better ...

not perfect form, but he sure gets a big push at the start of backstroke, his favorite event. This is T ( my son) again. I love the water in this shot, and so does he.
