I looked all over for the negative for this image that was taken on my last trip to Ireland...Some years ago. I ended up scanning the print which is a little soft. I can say that since I didn't take it. I sure didn't want to miss out on the St. Patrick"s day fun..I can't believe that I bent backwards like that, and that I was that limber. I look at this now and wonder how many people have kissed the stone and if they wipe it between each kiss with Purell:-))

BOTTOM ROW: Food (apple, granola bar and gum), lip stuff (a shiny one, a lipsticky one and a natural one), Halls, Advils/Tylenol, Purell, hand creme, hair bands, various pens, kleenex.

Trying to find some other use for the ginormous tube top-knitted-late-too-large-Christmas gift, (someone asked if it was made of sisal), here's what I came up with.
Inspired by Teddy's nojo for his little one, I tried using it as a sling to hold stuff:

I'm pretty sure I could've fit in more too!
Then, following Immutably Me's suggestion I tried it out as a scarf, and found I could flip it over to cover my head.

The Corona Virus in Villaggio by Judith Fish
This terrible virus started far away- overseas
And continued to spread exponentially
Till it finally reached our shore—oy vey!!
And made it to Delray Beach, USA
Covid, corona and shelter in place
We were forced to stay home in a very small space
But Villaggio would save us from this horrible disease-
Canceling shows, lectures, classes, and all committees
Our life had changed—OMG—not the pool
They dared to stop pickleball-that is so very cruel (lol)
Stand 6 feet apart---- and -Don’t touch your face !!!
People stocking up on toilet paper—well over a case
The highlight of the day –going to Publix---no doubt
And we now look forward to taking the garbage out
Gloves, masks and Purell -are now the new norm
But hopefully, Villaggio will weather the storm
The dogs are in 7th heaven—10 walks a day
They secretly wish the Corona will stay
No complaints from dogs-Sunny, Cooper or Champ
For them, it’s been like the best summer camp
But we must take this threat very seriously
And follow government’s orders meticulously
So please stand far away and keep your hands clean
Try to stay in your home- where you should quarantine
It’s possible to be safe and still have fun
Read a book-go online or sit on the porch in the sun
Mitigation is definitely the name of the game
Then hopefully the virus will very soon wane

The next few photos feature this sweet little Harvester butterfly. I often see Harvesters at Backus Woods. They're so cute and personable! They seem totally unafraid of humans, and never seem to mind when I take their photograph.
This little fella let me spend an hour or so with him before flying out of sight. I've never seen one open its wings for a dorsal view while feeding--only when they're protecting their territory and showing off for the girls.
He let me take all the photos I wanted as he puddled along the sand road. He did take notice of me, and at one point, circled me, as if he was curious about this strange being who seemed to be following him around.
Having held Harvesters many times before (usually by coaxing them onto my finger), I held out my hand so he could sniff it, like a dog might. He flew right to my hand, circled once, then landed right on my palm. Undoubtedly, he could sense my perspiration--they do love the salty stuff.
Soon he was wandering around my hand, lapping moisture up with his tiny tongue. Harvesters must have the shortest proboscis of the butterflies, probably because they don't care for flower nectar. They prefer to puddle in damp sand, but also feed at carrion and excrement (ewww--where's my Purell!!?)
He and I spent quite a while happily hanging out together. :-)

Alcohol is considered haraam, or forbidden, in Islamic tradition. However, Islamic scholars such as Dr. Rajab Abu Mleeh state that the alcohol in hand sanitizer used as medicine is halal, or permissible, in Islam. He claims that protection against disease is among the aims that Muslims are commanded to pursue, so it is permissible to touch alcohol even if it is indisputably impure according to Islamic law.[13] The Muslim Council of Britain concurs. [14] Studies show that when used as directed, the alcohol in hand sanitizer evaporates and is not absorbed significantly through the skin so it cannot cause intoxication.
A hand sanitizer or hand antiseptic[1] is a supplement or alternative to hand washing with soap and water. Various preparations are available, including gel, foam, and liquid solutions. The active ingredient in hand sanitizers may be isopropanol, ethanol, n-propanol, or povidone-iodine. Inactive ingredients in alcohol rubs typically include a thickening agent such as polyacrylic acid for alcohol gels, humectants such as glycerin for liquid rubs, propylene glycol, and essential oils of plants. Alcohol based hand sanitizers are more effective at killing germs than soaps and do not dry out hands as much.[2] Popular alcohol rub brands include Purell, GermX, IC Gel, Hygel, Deb InstantFoam, Deb Microsan, Labo, Aqium, Avant, GermOut, and Aquawet. Lysol, and Method Products also produce popular alcohol-based hand sanitizers. Common non-alcohol, rinse-free hand sanitizer brands use either small concentrations of the nitrogenous cationic surface-acting agent benzalkonium chloride or the chlorinated aromatic compound triclosan or povidone-iodine. These brands include Gold Bond Ultimate, MicroArmor, Hy5, Hygel, Soapopular, SHBAN, and Handclens. Other non-alcohol sanitizer brands in the USA such as Cleanwell and StaSafe claim to kill germs naturally, although these claims are not substantiated in any FDA monograph. All hand sanitizer products require NDC designation in United States and NPN designation in Canada. Hand sanitizer is controlled as a biocide in Europe.
In recent years, some brands started combining alcohol rubs with natural products and essential oils to provide luxury lines for the growing skin care industry.[3] Such brands include Burt's Bees, EO, HYGEL, Frais, Jao and The Body Shop. These luxury products contain the 60% alcohol necessary to kill germs effectively and safely, but employ additional ingredients to moisturize and condition the skin.

Using a squirt bottle to model a linear relationship with negative slope. In this case the bottle holds 12 fluid ounces or 354 ml of hand sanitizer and with each squirt loses a set amount of sanitizer. Continuous data because possible to make 1/4 or 1/3 or 1/2 a pump.

Washing my hands doesn't get a second thought: it's just part of the program. I can't tell you the disgust I feel when I see people leaving the bathroom without washing their hands. Some will run their hands through their hair to make sure nary a lock is out of place, tuck in shirts, and maybe pick something out of their teeth, but won't give the soap and water even a cursory glance.
Too nasty to think about.
On another note, I just noticed the Purell logo on the side of the dispenser. I recall what came out being a foamy soap.
These little handbags hold your travel size Purell hand sanitizer so that you can find it quickly in a pinch. You can hang it on your purse or backpack. With a nasty flu going around, it’s nice to have one of these especially if you are around kids.
As I immersed myself in Lysol and Purell, I thought of the myriads of love children that were conceived in this spectacular round bed surrounded by mirrors.

Our Infection Control Team held their annual ‘OK to Ask Day’, event yesterday. Staff were invited to come along to the Main Reception at Watford General Hospital to speak to the Infection Control team about the importance of hand washing in the prevention and control of infection in our hospitals.
Infection Control Support Worker Cheryl Atkins and Caterina Galani, Healthcare Support Manager for Gojo Skin Health and Hygiene Solutions (who supply our Purell hand sanitizer gel) handed out infection control badges, mini hand sanitizer bottles, hand hygiene leaflets and were on hand to answer any questions from staff or patients.

This sweet monkey was foraging on the ground when I first saw him from a second-story walkway at our hotel. When he saw me, he hurried to a nearby tree and climbed it. The next thing I knew, he popped out of the foliage at eye level with me. After we both got a good look at each other, we went our separate ways.
It occurs to me now he may have been hoping for a handout. Well, all I had on me was bottled water and Purell. Sorry! At the next stop, I made up for it by feeding the cats at the hotel.
I am going to identify this provisionally as a Grivet monkey or a Bale Mountains Vervet monkey. He was a little vague on the subject. If anyone can identify him more precisely, I'd be delighted.

Day 11, Monday 3/26/07, returning from PVR to SFO: I amused myself during the annoyingly inefficient security procedures by taking a few pictures. Inefficient: we had to wait and wait and wait and wait to check in because the self check-in machines weren't working, and have our checked luggage "searched", i.e. the zippers opened and closed. Before searching, the security personnel would occasionally clean their hands with Purell, wave them around for a good 3 minutes to dry them, then put one latex glove on, then proceed to touch the bags with both gloved and ungloved hands anyway. Then at the gate, at the time that we were supposed to *begin* boarding, all the sudden announcements said "last call" for our flight. So we got in line and had our carry-on bags searched, though we had already been through security--I suppose this was to prevent any unauthorized duty-free items, but if we can buy it inside the secure area, why not just let us go on the plane with it? Then we had to cram into a bus and wait while our plane was sitting 100 yards away. Then after the bus lurched forward and backward a few times, doing a 10-point turn for no apparent reason, we were driven to the plane for boarding.
Ground transportation in Mexico was super-efficient, convenient, and all-around pleasant, but the airport process had a few kinks in it.
