I wanted to see a traditional shadow puppet show, but I could only find this place, China Puppet Theater, in Beijing. It features rod puppets, costume stage shows, and movies, not in English. www.puppetchina.com
Very reminiscent of shadow puppets from South East Asia, but not so intricate in design. Shows are often very political.
Experimenting with hair and make-up to explore some live puppet characters that may feature in my current project 'DISORDER' (looking into the human experience of health disorders)

Chinese puppet show
During the day, we came across this Chinese puppet performance. We were enthralled, but there seemed to be nobody else interested in watching. Maybe they were just rehearsing for an evening performance?

No tripod used...this make the real challenge for today low light photography!
