Four small puppets who look very much like the original Swedish supergroup from the seventies ABBA on display at ABBA The Museum in Stockholm, Sweden. These were used in a partially animated music video featuring several songs recorded by the group.

"Puppet Dance" is another famous attraction of Pushkar Mela which people love to enjoy in Pushkar. The Artists make leather puppets dance on the Rajasthani folk songs and it seems like a group of people is dancing on the floor in reality.

Back to puppets for the Caucus Race. When the song was updated for this play, an intro was added that referred to an elephant and a donkey starting the race. Hmmm, wonder what the reference was. I imagined the two puppets as hobby horses. Originally, I built a mechanism that allowed the elephant's ears to swing, but it didn't work out. I scrapped the whole thing and started over with a solid head carved from foam rubber, skinned in flannel.

Finger puppet sellers are ubiquitous in Peru. This girl was standing in morning light coming from the right, and the reflection from the wooden door lit the left side of her face. She was looking in the window at us eating breakfast.
She showed us her wares: "This is condor. This is llama. This is puma." (the most popular animals in this country -- they´re in all the Inca mythology here.) Then she goes on: "This is spiderman. This is spongebob."
I couldn´t believe it.
