BILLBOARD / NIGHT PIC

Location: Scarborough Beach near Cape Point.

Description: The two photographs that make up this Vertorama were taken at high-tide during a massive storm-surge in late August this year. The huge monster waves were crashing on the rocks, rushing up the beach, and depositing truck-loads of foam on this footpath between the carpark and the beach.

Well, another working year is almost over for me… in a few more hours time, I’ll be driving along the Route 62 towards the Little Karoo again, to spend a few days relaxing by the river in the shade of the acacia trees… doing as little as possible.

When I return to Cape Town next week, I plan to spend the next ten days with my camera in my hands… taking as many photographs as possible. Of course, I’ll be uploading all my favourite shots into my Flickr stream as soon as I’ve processed them… and I’ll also have plenty of time to visit all your streams, and to view and comment on all your latest shots.

Here’s wishing everyone a wildly joyous festive season!!

Puke Ariki is a museum, library and information centre all in one. It also has a restaurant and a cafe. The two wings of the innovative complex are joined by an airbridge. As a visitor to New Plymouth, you'll find the exhibitions at Puke Ariki both entertaining and educational. There are five gallery spaces to explore - Taranaki Naturally, Taranaki Life, the Taranaki Experience, the Te Takapou Whariki o Taranaki and the Temporary Exhibitions Gallery. Collectively, the galleries celebrate the uniqueness of Taranaki from 30 million years ago to today. Highlights include a real-life walk-through cow shed, a glass forest displaying the region's plants and animals and a captivating 12-minute multi-media theatre show that celebrates all things Taranaki. Admission is free, although there may be a charge for special exhibitions. The information centre at Puke Ariki provides a full range of brochures, advice and information for visitors. The centre can also handle bookings for accommodation, transportation, events and attractions.
