Le donne provano la temperatura del ferro da stiro toccandolo. Brucia ma non si bruciano. Respirano forte quando l’ostetrica dice “non urli, non è mica la prima”. Imparano a cantare piangendo, a sciare con le ossa rotte. Portano i figli in braccio per giorni in certe traversate del deserto, dei mari sui barconi, della città a piedi su e giù per gli autobus. Le donne hanno più confidenza col dolore. È un compagno di vita, è un nemico tanto familiare da esser quasi amico. Ci si vive, è normale. Strillare disperde le energie, lamentarsi non serve. Trasformarlo, invece: ecco cosa serve. Trasformare il dolore in forza. È una lezione antica, una sapienza muta e segreta: ciascuna lo sa.

I always wear cycling glasses and a helmet when I ride my bike. Just needed a mask to complete the ensemble for 2020.

I had always wondered why I say this sight wherever I was in Thailand. It was only on this walk that I discovered the true reason - it is to stop soi dogs from using the vehicles to pee against!

There's a lot of life in the hollow of a rotten tree. I've always felt the draw of it, to crawl on through and live inside. Make room while the termites take over, hold fast to the past life, making new dirt for the next. Feeding into our need for renewal, hungry history on the outskirts of the old cemetery. I've got in every trunk I could, stood stiff, bent over or laid down. Kept warm from the wind with walls of wood on all sides, now I know how the sap feels. Exoskeleton holding me in, just the right kind of cave when I need one. Primal protection for what's left of the winter, go on and shiver me home.
