The gutted building used to have a coffee shop/restaurant called Pronto.
In my first years of coming to Hiroshima on the weekends, back when I used to live out in Takehara, Pronto was a fave meeting spot for us country folks.
Just south of Pronto, there used to be a Mister Donut. Mister Donut doesn't have the best doughnuts in the world, but they're not bad. What they do have is free refills on coffee, so you can sit there forever if you need to or want to.
Now it's gone and it's a 7-11 convenience store. There's already a Lawson convenience store about 2 minutes further south on the same street.
Across from Pronto, there used to be a Daei department store. Now it's a DeoDeo electronics store and Daiso 100 yen store.
Daei used to and DeoDeo still does keep its doors wide open in summer, super-blasting the air conditioning and doing its part to cool down the 5 feet in front of its doors while wasting as much energy as possible.
Some things don't change.

Con este lecho de hojas erosionadas por el tiempo y con esas ramas desnudas, el sol nos parece prometer un nuevo inicio, inminente, pronto llegará la primavera.
Maisto went through a phase of modelling U.S. contemporary concept cars which made them stand out at the time though of course time is never kind to motor show flights of fancy as they tend to date very quickly.
I already have one of the earlier examples which were badged as a Plymouth Pronto Cruiser but after the discontinuation of that marque in 2001 later examples like this were renamed as Chrysler Pronto Cruizer with a "z". Obviously the concept never made production though styling elements went into the PT Cruiser. This example dates from around 2003 and would have already begun to look a bit odd to many collectors though these low priced Fresh Metal castings were, and still are, very much aimed at children.
A shimmering metallic gold finish with front and rear detailing but no interior by this point.

This is before starting to remove the lens so work can begin on the shutter and aperture, both of which were sticking, and the shutter spends were completely off.
