I picked up some new glasses today, and on the way home I took a photo in almost darkness, of my favourite deli shop in Leek. I have played about with it a bit - and although I am not sure I totally like the result, I have too much to do this evening and this is much the effect I wanted to achieve.

At the Minnesota State Fair. Don't know why but I really like the look of the Pronto Pup stands. Every year I have get shots of a few stands and of course eat a few pups while I'm at it. You can see the Corn Dog stand across the street; I've never had a corn dog at the fair.

The gutted building used to have a coffee shop/restaurant called Pronto.
In my first years of coming to Hiroshima on the weekends, back when I used to live out in Takehara, Pronto was a fave meeting spot for us country folks.
Just south of Pronto, there used to be a Mister Donut. Mister Donut doesn't have the best doughnuts in the world, but they're not bad. What they do have is free refills on coffee, so you can sit there forever if you need to or want to.
Now it's gone and it's a 7-11 convenience store. There's already a Lawson convenience store about 2 minutes further south on the same street.
Across from Pronto, there used to be a Daei department store. Now it's a DeoDeo electronics store and Daiso 100 yen store.
Daei used to and DeoDeo still does keep its doors wide open in summer, super-blasting the air conditioning and doing its part to cool down the 5 feet in front of its doors while wasting as much energy as possible.
Some things don't change.
