They left Europe in Antwerp, from this building, and sailed to New York where they arrived at Ellis Island.

Voor miljoenen mensen uit heel Europa waren de loodsen van de Red Star Line de start van een nieuw bestaan in de Verenigde Staten en Canada. De Nieuwe Wereld was het beloofde land voor wie op zoek was naar geluk. Tussen 1873 en 1934 vertrokken meer dan twee miljoen landverhuizers vanuit Antwerpen naar Amerika. Die bijna vergeten geschiedenis brengt het museum in de oude loodsen van de scheepvaartmaatschappij opnieuw tot leven. De oude gebouwen maken al de emoties van de landverhuizers voelbaar, tastbaar en zichtbaar.
