At a time of increasing fascism it is important that most of the people who came to this country came on account of its promise of freedom (often unfulfilled). But this is a time when freedom is increasingly scarce in the United States and fascism is on the rise.
El Matador State Beach

I had such a wonderful time taking photos of the Airfest in Santa Maria and around Pismo Beach on 10/15-16 and I figured there might be some wonderful weather the next weekend.
I saw some blue skies to the north and got off the freeway in Santa Monica, but misjudged my lane and ended up on Pacific Coast Highway instead of Ocean Blvd. I figured this was serendipity and continued on to El Matador State Beach, 25 miles north.
This was the scene as I began my trek down to the water. Looks like I was in for a marvelous skyscape.
The blue was gone really quickly after this, however, and although I did spend a little over an hour here and at La Piedra up the coast a bit, I didn't get the photos I'd imagined.
Better luck next time, when hopefully the promise will be fulfilled. I'm not disappointed.

Frühmorgens an der Spree im Regierungsviertel. Es ist bitterkalt, die kleine Sony arbeitet vorbildlich, jedoch meine klammen Finger nicht. ❄️

Short trip to Berlin.
75,000 steps in 48 hours and quite a few pretty photo opportunities... Early morning on the Spree River in the government district. It's bitterly cold, the little Sony camera is working perfectly, but my numb fingers aren't. ❄️

The prairies are looking good for early June. Last year the prairies were exceptional, and it's looking like this year is shaping up to be even better.

another old one from my archive, this time just some simple pink flowers; not the best picture technically speaking (i was in the dark), but i like it nonetheless and i hope you'll like it too!
I missed the Monarch butterfly's emergence. I now know given our recent temperatures and rainfall, the time between Monarch's pupa and butterfly is 16 days. You can see the pupa's case in the lower right of the image. The pupa that was on the siding is also now empty.
I had given up and was taking photos at the Nature Center in a light drizzle. In preparation for other yard work I noticed the fresh Monarch (Danaus plexippus). Yipee, so happy to have had one small success. Safe travels.
