Line art for Prometheus.
The fully painted version, I sell as a print. The picture was originally made as a cover of the comic book, "Unbound" #1 published by Image, back in 1998.
The completed Prometheus Pistol. I added the stencil design to cut out the unrelieved black in the rear part of the gun, I think it turned out really well.
Mom and Dad saturniid moths on our mudroom window. I couldn't decide on the species - either the Prometheus moth or the Tulip Tree Silk moth. Whatsthatbug.com says the former, so there you have it. (Great website by the way). They are lovely creatures with wingspans ~ 4 inches. Sometimes beauty is ephemeral - these moths only live as adults a few days once they emerge from their pupas, and they mate and die a few days later. They cannot even eat as adults.
Graduate Seminar final project, based on Prometheus Bound by Aeschylus. Lighting design by Danae Havice-Hull. (Pictured: Tanya Finkelstein) Second Stage, UCSC.
It's said that this is the most photographed monumental sculpture in the city.
Created by American sculptor, Paul Manship, who had an interest in mythological subjects and events.
Its central theme is best stated by the quote that’s carved in the red granite wall behind him, taken from Aeschylus: “Prometheus, Teacher in Every Art, Brought the Fire That Hath Proved to Mortals a Means to Mighty Ends.”
