Saturn’s moons Janus and Prometheus look close enough to touch in this stunningly detailed view. From just beneath the ring plane, Cassini stares at Janus (181 kilometers, or 113 miles across) on the near side of the rings and Prometheus (102 kilometers, or 63 miles across) on the far side. The image shows that Prometheus is more elongated than Janus.
The view takes in the Cassini Division (4,800 kilometers, or 2,980 miles wide), from its outer edge to about halfway across its width.
The image was taken in visible light with the Cassini spacecraft narrow-angle camera on April 29, 2006 at a distance of approximately 218,000 kilometers (135,000 miles) from Janus and 379,000 kilometers (236,000 miles) from Prometheus. Image scale is about 1 kilometer (0.6 mile) per pixel on Janus and 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) per pixel on Prometheus.
'In Greek mythology, Prometheus was a member of the earliest race of gods called Titans. The god Zeus plotted to destroy humanity by depriving the earth of fire.Prometheus, who had fashioned man out of clay, saved humanity by teaching man how to use fire. Thus, Prometheus became a champion of humanity and the first "sculptor" of man.'

Another LDD rendition of one of dasnewtens awesome ships! Very much a WIP this one. Started ages ago, then helped along by Das's very kind breakdown. Trouble is a lot of sub assemblies just wont connect in LDD due to 'illegal' connections or just lack of tolerance! Will try and finish this one, if only to get a decent parts list and a look at some of the cool techniques involved :)
Day 163 of 365 (Year Three)
Today was a long day. Savanah only had a half of day of school with it being the last day and all. Not only was it a half day, but she also came home with a friend. So instead of having just the one to deal with, I had double the trouble. Fortunately, another of Savanah's friends called wanting a play date so I did get a break.
After the play date I picked them up, brought them home and we got Savanah ready for her Orange Belt Test. She did a great job and made us all very proud of her.
After the test, Pop Pop took us out to dinner to celebrate. Savanah was thrilled to have her friend along with us for that. They were both still a bit giddy from all the excitement of the test, but all in all pretty well behaved. When two seven year old girls get together the overall volume in a room seems to increase ten fold. I'm going to have to see if there is some scientific reason for that. I really don't understand how two kids can manage to do that. You'd think it would only double the volume.
After dinner I dropped off Savanah's friend and headed home. It was bedtime so after saying our farewells to Pop Pop we shuffled Savanah off to bed and settled in for the evening and I promptly fell asleep on the sofa in the middle of playing Farm Town on Facebook.
I woke up around 2 and realized I hadn't done my shot yet, so I played around with the flash for a bit and ended up with this. It is a simple photo edit, but I really like how it turned out. Now I am off to bed again. I have an early call for the Browncoats movie in the morning.
Prometheus (Ancient Greek, Προμηθεύς, "forethought") is the Titan chiefly honored for stealing fire from Zeus in the stalk of a fennel plant and giving it to mortals for their use. For that, Zeus ordered him to be chained on top of the Caucasus. Every day an eagle would come and eat his liver, but since Prometheus was immortal, his liver always grew back, so he was left to bear the pain everyday.

In the Western classical tradition, Prometheus became a figure who represented human striving, particularly the quest for scientific knowledge, and the risk of overreaching or unintended consequences. In particular, he was regarded in the Romantic era as embodying the lone genius whose efforts to improve human existence could also result in tragedy: Mary Shelley, for instance, gave The Modern Prometheus as the subtitle to her novel Frankenstein (1818). -

(Berliner Zeitung, 2. März 2009)
Now Iapetus took to wife the neat-ankled maid Clymene, daughter of Ocean, and went up with her into one bed. And she bore him a stout-hearted son, Atlas: also she bore very glorious Menoetius and clever Prometheus, full of various wiles, and scatter-brained Epimetheus who from the first was a mischief to men who eat bread; for it was he who first took of Zeus the woman, the maiden whom he had formed. But Menoetius was outrageous, and farseeing Zeus struck him with a lurid thunderbolt and sent him down to Erebus because of his mad presumption and exceeding pride. And Atlas through hard constraint upholds the wide heaven with unwearying head and arms, standing at the borders of the earth before the clear-voiced Hesperides; for this lot wise Zeus assigned to him. And ready-witted Prometheus he bound with inextricable bonds, cruel chains, and drove a shaft through his middle, and set on him a long-winged eagle, which used to eat his immortal liver; but by night the liver grew as much again everyway as the long-winged bird devoured in the whole day. - Hesiod, Theogony, 650 BC

Prometheus was the son of Iapetus who was one of the Titans. He tricked the gods into eating bare bones instead of good meat. He stole the sacred fire from Zeus and the gods. Prometheus did not tell Zeus the prophecy that one of Zeus's sons will overthrow him. In punishment, Zeus commanded that Prometheus be chained for eternity in the Caucasus. There, an eagle (or, according to other sources, a vulture) would eat his liver, and each day the liver would be renewed. So the punishment was endless, until Heracles finally killed the bird. Prometheus is known to be one of the most interesting characters in Greek Mythology
