Gotan Project accepting a deafening applause after a rained out performance in front of Belgium's Royal Palace.

It's now complete..............well as far as I am concerned. It still looks a bit sterile in places, but I think I will call it a day. Question to myself, do I attempt to recreate the same place in the late 70s ?..........answer, probably not.

Almost anyone can cross their eyes !

Anyone want to guess about this shot? I did it by hand, mostly.

This was near the end of my stint on Prince Caspian, and I have a thick project beard in evidence.

Project 366-1 2009 March 17 76/365

This nest is small, no more than 3-4 inches across. I walked within a few feet of it and never saw it while the leaves were on the trees last summer. The nest builder wasn't opposed to a bit of man-made material.

Out on the buses today

Now that the inside of the house is 95% done, we've been working on the outside. We did most of the hardscaping and rock last summer but we've done a lot of planting, mulching and cosmetic stuff this summer.

Project 1:4 survey sheet contents

Instead of having a figure painting on a wall of patches and graffiti, I decided to go with a cleaner and more simple design. I struggled with fitting in all the concepts but I like the start of this and feel like I could push it a bit further. For my three media I used painting/drawing, digital, found texture.

rocking out with my Autumn beard. Makes me look more intense I think.

Lots and lots of pins - turning a pair of very long curtains from my house in England into two pairs of curtains to fit two rooms in my house in New Zealand.

A tale of three flags. Today is a flag day in Finland: flags must be flown from all public buildings, and most private buildings with flagpoles follow this as well. Today's particularly important, being the day of the Kalevala.

Top left: looking down Laivapojankatu (near home). Top right: looking down Jaalaranta (near home). Bottom: Nokia Research Centre (my office). All in Ruoholahti.

(Not an overly windy day, as you can tell. The flag at work refused to co-operate. Also, apologies for the quality: I forgot my camera today, so these were taken with my N90 and later cropped to fit in the same image.)

For one of the projects for my photography course, I had to produced a set images that show "The Spirit of the Place". Knowing it fairly well, I chose Tutbury Castle as my subject.

I'm going to a Fringe Festival performance this evening. I've bought tickets for about half a dozen shows and bought 'fringe addicts price' tickets. So this lunch time I went out to buy my fringe addict card. The booking office is in Cuba Street, quite a long walk from my office. But today they have a sales bike on the waterfront near Wagamama, just down the road from my office. They were giving out Fringe Festival brochures and were surprised when I walked straight up to them and asked to buy and addicts card.

So I did it. Completed my 365 project and my last photograph of 2011 is a self portrait. I enjoyed it so much that I am going to do it all over again next year!

I am now busy getting all the stats together and see what I was doing, where I was and who I met.

Today was kinda quiet at home, so I decided to go for a bike ride. It was so nice to have time to myself feeling the sea breeze through my hair, and hearing the noise of the wind, I lost track of time watching people go by. I love people watching now, never really did it before till I had a camera on me at all time.

This moment I captured was on my way home from my bike ride. This biker was on the side of the road, looking at his phone. I pulled out my camera while I was still riding, placing the viewfinder up to my eye. Biking with one hand and closing my other eye so I could see the moment I wanted to capture a bit better through the camera. In doing this I was completely blind to everything infront of me. Come to think of it now?! I so could of fallen of my bike and staked it on the pavement or hit something. What photographer do for the perfect moment?

Monthly Scavenger Hunt January 2016: 7 - Travelling

4/6/12

I relaxed during the day today, then worked 5-9pm. This is another addition to my room that Andy and Nikkie gave me, the same day that he built my PC. It's their old mini fridge!

After work I came home and played video games. I then went to Banana Max, a bar up in York, with Miah, Nik, and Bekah. We saw Ryan Wood there too, which was awesome because we hadn't seem him in a while. We all had a good time. I ended up staying at Miah's rather than driving home. Nik gave me a ride to my car the next morning.

The doctor's waiting room. More accurately, the waiting room at the medical centre. It is very different from the waiting room at the doctor's when I was a child in London in the 1960s. That had cracked lino on the floor; dark wood, mismatched, pre-war chairs and dirty cream coloured gloss paint on the walls. The last time I was in a doctor's waiting room in the UK it was definitely better than that, but not as nice as this. The other big difference is that I didn not have to pay anything to see the doctor in the UK. My visit today cost $53. However, the prescriptions are cheaper here.

The Nurse Maude Hospice Shop on Papanui Road in Merivale, Christchurch. I had heard that 'op shops' in well-to-do areas were a good place to shop because you can find very good quality clothes that have hardly been worn. In the three weeks I've been here I have bought quite a few items from here, including a lovely silk skirt for $8.
