It is time to escalate at FERC. Beyond Extreme Energy (BXE) and Sane Energy Project planned three days of sharing/training, art-building and action from June 23-25. June 23rd was the last of 40 days in the DC national action being organized by the Poor People’s Campaign around the country. Following the demonstration we gathered in the late afternoon for a time of sharing, art-building and getting prepared for action at FERC and elsewhere the morning of Monday, June 25th. Engineering personnel from four DISCOs visited PDIP on July 26, in lieu of one of the twenty five Performance Improvement Projects planned for Component 2. The project deals with upgrading the Planning and Engineering (P&E) capabilities of DISCOs. On-site assessment of DISCOs is complete in this regard and the project design has been finalized.
Walk Wise, our pedestrian safety program sponsored by Chevron, convened community stakeholders to develop an implementation plan for environmental modifications at schools in Nanba County, China. The workshop drew upon the expertise of stakeholders for the project planning process, including an analysis of the current road safety situation in the project school zones, a profile of road users in Nanba County, etc. We contributed our guidelines and recommendations for environmental modifications in school zones.
RENEW holds workshops with young people in Tanzania, providing them with an opportunity to realize their potential and empowering them as leaders in their communities. The first portion of the workshop focuses on helping students to develop crucial life skills: Goals and Dreams, Self-Esteem, Decision Making, Communication, Relationship skills and Gender Empowerment. The second half of the workshop trains the students on Project Planning and Leadership, emphasizing the importance of Community Service and giving the students an opportunity to identify and create a service project within their community.
