Hey guys, I said a while back I had a project planned and here it is. I grabbed a random Mystery Pack and my goal is to customize every piece in here in some way to make a MEGA Mystery Pack. It just so happened the pack I pulled, had a gold. (Strange days) somehow I will incorporate that as well, but I'm not certain how. Starting tomorrow I will have a post on the BAF showing my progress, and I invite you all to participate in the fun.

Students will have enhanced access to online learning opportunities thanks to a new partnership between the university and Quizam Media Corporation. Dr. Rosetta Khalideen, UFV’s Dean of Professional Studies, and Dr. Frank Ulbrich, Director of the School of Business, joined Russ Rossi, President & CEO of Quizam Media Corporation, to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on behalf of their respective organizations on April 2.
The partnership formalizes a path for developing UFV’s project plan to access and customize ontrackTV content for labs, self-paced learning, and other purposes related to UFV credit and non-credit courses. The goal is for UFV to work with ontrackTV to help meet UFV’s strategic plan goals for online delivery.

Here are the colors I would like to use for tectonics shawl: Jamieson's DK sunrise and prussian blue. I would like to knit up the 12 patterns as ovals, and connect with some sort of lace. I am probably insane, since this will be my first real project. I might also make an afgan, which might be more practical, but not as challenging.
Credit goes to fisheggs and her incredible tectonics scarf.
I really like this yarn -- it is 65% wool and 35% silk. It was designed by Elsebeth Lavold, who loves to knit cables. Cables in Silky Wool. Silky Wool color chart. The colors shown here are 21 bilberry and 04 charcoal. I suspect the sweater above is knit in 10, which is also available (I did not get a picture of it).

Among people who have not built architectural projects previously there are multiple (FAQ) frequently asked questions that come up on almost every new building project. One of these is why clients need a soils report. Often a property buyer will look at two properties and be unable to determine why one is less costly than the other. Human nature is to buy the least costly. However, due to soil conditions the lot with the least purchase price could, in the end, cost much more to purchase and build upon.
In Nevada, soils conditions can vary greatly even on two lots across the street from each other. Building regulations involving design for earthquake conditions can cause foundation and structural costs to greatly increase due to soils. Dependent upon what internal remodeling you are constructing you may need a soils report even if you are not constructing a building. Even though Las Vegas is technically in the desert, subsurface water is occasionally found just below the surface. All of these things will make it typically necessary to obtain a soils test and report prior to buying property or designing the structure of a building.
People who want to construct architectural projects often arrive without a soils report. This video is a follow up to the other videos in this series which explain many considerations in purchasing one. In answer to this frequently asked question Ken Small Architect made this video about a process that can help you to determine if you should order one.
SSA Architecture and Ken Small have over 20 years of experience in designing commercial architecture including stores, offices, restaurants, bars, kiosks, drive-thru restaurants, hospitality projects, schools and almost every kind of architectural project imaginable at one time or another.
We can help you with all design and construction aspects of your project planning, construction and interior design. We are not soils engineers and do not offer soils reports as part of our services.
SSA Architecture, Small Studio Associates and Ken Small Architect are architectural practitioners located in the Las Vegas Nevada area. Ken Small is currently licensed to practice architecture in Nevada, Arizona and California and other jurisdictions. Please go to our web site for more information www.smallstudioassociates.com

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District began a remedial investigation and feasibility study July 13 at the former Sahuarita Air Force Range in Pima County, Arizona.
SAFR is a Formerly Used Defense Site of approximately 27,000 acres. Airmen from Davis-Monthan in Tucson used the site from 1943 to 1958 for bombing and gunnery training.
This RI/FS will investigate more than 10,000 acres using digital geophysical mapping.
"DGM is being used to characterize the nature and extent of munitions of explosive concern at the site," said Kyle Lindsay, a geophysicist from the Sacramento District. "DGM locates anomalies resulting from metal in the subsurface. These anomalies are then excavated to determine what they are, and the information is then used to define concentrated target areas which help determine an appropriate remedial action."
To calibrate the DGM equipment, three site survey control points were established for the area.
"A number of quality control tests are run at the beginning of each day to ensure the geophysical instrument is functioning properly," added Lindsay. "Additionally, data is collected over an area with known objects buried at known depths and locations to verify GPS accuracy and instrument readings."
In addition to the harsh desert terrain, some of the munitions used were quite small.
"The smaller an object is, the more difficult it is to accurately detect in the subsurface," said Lindsay. "There were some very small munitions potentially used at SAFR which presents an interesting challenge for DGM."
The District is working with the State of Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Federal Projects Team as a regulatory partner for the project.
"ADEQ's role is to provide oversight of the project and to ensure that all State and Federal regulatory requirements are properly followed and met," said Sara Benovic, ADEQ project manager. "We will coordinate with the Corps and all stakeholders to discuss the project by participating in Technical Project Planning meetings, teleconferences, site visits and emails."
The RI/FS will run through May 2018, with a final report due in August 2019.
"ADEQ appreciates being a part of this project and looks forward to working with the Corps, as well as stakeholders such as Arizona State Land Department and the City of Tucson," added Benovic. "Our mission is to protect and enhance human health and the environment."

The Russian president has ordered the suspension of plans to build a motorway passing through Khimki forest north of Moscow, the Russian capital.
The highway was planned to go from Moscow to Saint Petersburg along the increasingly jammed route to the Sheremetyevo international airport (guess who was the initiator of this project...).
Plans to build the motorway have long angered local residents.
This week, at least 2,000 people, including Russian rock stars and leading rights activists, attended a concert in central Moscow criticising the government's plans.
This protest was much larger than previous opposition protests where unsanctioned rallies have been characterised by thin turnouts and police crackdowns.
"This is our victory," Andrei Morgulyov, head of the Union of Environmental Non-governmental Organisations and who was among a group of activists who set up tents in the forest this summer to protect the trees, told the Associated Press news agency.
"This decision would have never happened if we were not fighting for our cause."
The editor of a Khimki newspaper who reported extensively on the issue was severely beaten in 2008 and left crippled. (Thanks to this kind guys from the picture)...

Completed this project within a couple of evenings, as the designer predicted. Overall, happy with the outcome, though I wish the pattern had contained more info -- would have been a much faster project. Planning to tea-dye these.
This is a volunteer effort for our local historical society to use in upcoming Civil War sesquicentennial events.
Will be making more but will use a different pattern.

I feel as if I should write something intelligent here... but I don't have a whole lot to say.
I really wish I was able to experiment more with different styles.. and I'm a little disappointed that I didn't get more talented and creative with photo edits/ideas.. etc. But I had a lot of time contraints.. mostly.. no time at all.
But... I'm so proud that I actually completed this project. You see... I'm not one to follow through on all my projects and ideas. And a couple of years ago.. I made it a mission of mine that when I take on new tasks/projects/plans..etc.. that I see them through until the end.
So, here I am at the end of my 365.. and I'm a little sad that it's done now. But happy.. that I can take a little break from taking photos of myself. I was honestly getting so sick of looking at my own photos... and trust me.. that's a huge thing.. since I'm the biggest camera whore that I know.. haaa
I wish I could've been more creative with my last shot/pose.. but the sun was setting.. and I had no time to try various poses. So.. this will have to do.
It's been a lot of fun... definitely a learning experience... and I will for sure do it again.. one day.
:)))
