"Princess Valiant" was the eclectic ride of a friend of mine--a young lady of eccentric taste and innovative style. The car was one of those classic Plymouth Valiants, with the famous "slant-six" engine--called a "compact" at the time, it proved superior to it's competitors, the Chevy Corvair and Ford Falcon. The famed "slant-six" engine (also featured in the Dodge Dart) set a new standard for reliability--and are always a "find" when discovered in the junkyard scrap pile.
My friend (who changed her given name "Dinah" to "China") sold sheepskin seat covers at auto shows and had another business combining vintage clothing sales with rock concerts--events called "Rock and Shop"s.
Last I heard, she'd married a boat-building buddy of mine, and perhaps even had a child. Portland's like that, sometimes the currents take folks in different directions, but you still have a handle on what sloughs and eddys people might have drifted down. Certainly she was keeping Portland Weird long before the phrase made it on a bumper sticker. Keeping Portland Freaky would probably be more accurate.

Oct 26, 2012 - Big thanks to Hugh for organizing, and being the brainchild behind the "Project X" photo shoot. Only from his gifted mind would such an amazing idea spring! Candace our model also deserves our thanks for being so patient and understanding.
Also present was Darren, photographer extraordinaire, and myself.
Photographs from "Project-X" in the city of Haren in the northern Netherlands. What started as the birthday party of 16-year old Merthe escalated into riots; the Facebook page of the event was not set to private and tens of thousands had invited themselves. Stones, bottles and traffic signs were thrown at the police and the local supermarket was looted.

SBH #1-20. The clothing impressed me more than most of the objects in this batch. Especially nice are this hat from A.Y.Y. Clothing and Skins (#18), the panda dress from 4EvaGutta (#5), and the pink dress this skirt is from, by AvantMelon (#12). The clogs from Duh! (#11) are good, too. The chair in the other picture confused me, but the only prize I actually didn't like were the gestures from the gesture store. I'm not a big gesture fan anyway (though I can appreciate the wittier ones the first couple of times I heard them), but these were just agony to go through, with snotty voices and look-how-naughty-I-am phrases, as well as at least three misspelled words (including "misspelled"). They're the kinds of gestures that make me want to slap people. But I remain positive about the hunt because after all, I got this awesome hat!
If you're new to viewing this series of pics, here's what it's all about: I'm a hunt addict, and when I unpack, I do approximately 20 at a time to see what kind of random combinations of gifts end up together. Items I unpack later replace items I unpack earlier, both on my body (as much as can fit) and on the ground (up to 50 prims rezzed at once). And I can't help throwing in some commentary.
