Zip wire at the Eden Project

We had a prize draw at work with £5000 worth of prizes, unfortunately I had to dress up. It was a great day and a lot of people had a lot of fun.

Project Revolution tour - 8/26/07, Hartford, CT

Not really thumbnails. I’m trying to break things into layers and not make the pieces too small. Still a wip but I’m getting use out of these paint pens so ???

This project, titled “2011,” was very sentimental for me— bittersweet moments looking back at who I used to be and how I’ve changed, for better or for worse. The five best photos are memories that I hold, and show no text to represent their purity, while the rest are based on how I view those spaces. These spaces are where my body feels the most emotion, as what you see is what younger me would have seen (a blast from the past), and are consistent throughout the album because of their importance to my development. I then took pages from my first grade school journal, with all her heartfelt honesty, and intertwined them. The bedroom pictures are relatively edited the same because my bedroom hasn’t changed much; I start the day with dappled sunlight. I get more open to experimentation when I exit the room and head outside to the patio, or next door to my grandmother’s house. Her pool holds the most memories, which is why it takes up the majority of the album. Times where I’m having fun with my family, or where I feel so isolated that I pretend I’m in the womb— they wrap up in a time capsule held underwater. There’s a juxtaposition between emotions that I tried to emulate as well, with all the mood swings I had as a child because of ‘circumstances.’ The haziness and faded senses of nostalgia linger, with bursts of childish whimsy. Each “day” is different— same start, different progression— and I’d like to keep it that way. Overall, I’m proud of my past and present self, and am wishing my future self a very special good luck!

McKinsey Global Infrastructure Initiative Summit

Tokyo, Japan

Thursday, October 20th, 2022

14:00–15:15

SOLUTION SESSIONS

Participants will select one of four concurrent pillar solution sessions, each focusing on a major global project or infrastructure challenge. A senior executive from the organization will spend 15-minutes introducing the project and framing its biggest challenges. The participant group, representing deep expertise from around the world, will spend the remaining time in a facilitated discussion, solving for these challenges.

BUILDING THE WORKFORCE FOR THE NEXT DECADE

The career opportunity of applying new technology to achieve net-zero targets on critical infrastructure could be an appealing proposition to the next generation of infrastructure leaders. What new skills and capabilities will be essential to shape and safely deliver this next generation of projects? How do the industry’s needs align with the priorities of new workforce demographics? How can the industry harness the power of diversity and inclusion, and what role do project owners play in supporting workforce development goals?

Discussion leaders:

Barry Lewis, Managing Director, ALEC

Kez Taylor, Chief Executive Officer, ALEC

Facilitators:

Garo Hovnanian, Partner, McKinsey & Company

Richard Westney, Senior Advisor, McKinsey & Company

Additive manufacturing (AM) is rapidly changing the design and production of all kinds of products, from those used in daily life to critical parts utilized in advanced technologies. With the increased national and global focus, there is clear evidence of the growing demand for technicians in AM. The Additive Manufacturing Workforce Advancement Training Coalition and Hub (AM-WATCH) is being established to address gaps in the knowledge base of 21st century technicians to ensure they are prepared for advanced career placement. This project is significantly enhancing and expanding AM resources developed by prior NSF projects (including remote facilities, learning curriculum, and educator workshops) to encompass hands-on desktop 3D printer-building modules, equipment operation/maintenance curriculum, and additional remotely-accessible equipment laboratories. In addition, AM-WATCH is establishing a number of cutting edge AM innovations and targeting the engagement of students, including those in underserved and under-represented groups, in STEM and other technical careers.

The objective of AM-WATCH is to address gaps in the current knowledge base of technicians through the development of curriculum and educational materials, delivery of professional development activities, support provided to 30+ community college and high school instructors per year, and expanded outreach activities targeting K-12 and community college teachers and students. Tennessee Technological University is collaborating with Community Colleges (CC), four-year universities, the ATE National Resource Center for Materials Technology Education, a national laboratory, industry, and government in the development of cutting-edge and multi-dimensional curriculum, activities, and toolkits for instructors.

I have just two children and one day when looking at my Faceboook account, I noticed both of them had clicked "Like" on Facebook. It's funny because they do not look alike, act alike, have the same philosophies, etc. Yet, here they are on one line on my Facebook and probably only proud mama noticed. (Yes, I smudged names to protect the guilty.)
