2017 Fellows Program Mentor Reception at GLG

The Kingwood Garden Club was at the Kingwood Library on Monday, March 13th for a special program about bees.

 

The presenter read a book to the children about bee hives and discussed how bees pollinate flowers. She emphasized that children should not fear bees. The garden club mentioned the declining bee population and talked about how planting flowers will help stimulate bee growth. Kingwood Library branch manager Ryan Fennell donned a bee suit while children viewed a collection of preserved bee specimens. Children planted flowers in pots to take home.

Ms. Brenda hosts a family storytime and craft every Tuesday evening from 6:30-7:30pm.

LegoLand Discovery Center presented two programs at the Library on 2/4. The older children built and raced cars.

On December 9, 2016, the Arboretum and Public Garden had the opportunity to welcome a group of students from a journalism program in Visalia CA. The aspiring young journalists had the opportunity to interview our Museum Education & Interpretive Manager- Maya Makker, GATEways Outreach Students- Vivian Le and Rachel Le and our Outreach and Leadership Program Coordinator- Melissa Cruz.

For 12 years New Hope Christian Church as presented the Journey to Bethlehem; a live outdoor nativity. This program reaches thousands of people from around the Southern Indiana region. This 45 minute program requires the participation of hundreds from the church and some help from other area churches as well.

The Induction program of the 8th batch of B.Arch students admitted to Nehru college of Architecture was held on 26th October, 2022 at the Shashthra hall in JCET, with “ Lighting the lamp” as ceremonial gesture by the dignitaries on the dais & students. Prof.Thirumeni Madhavan welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief guest & Guest of Honour to the audience. Esteemed Chairman & Managing trustee Adv.Dr.P.Krishnadas presided over the function & delivered the Presidential Address. He emphasized the special nature of the architectural profession and highlighted the enormous career options that awaited the budding architect. The Chief guest, Ar.Anoop K Nair, Chairman of Indian institute of Architects, Palakkad center & founder of “Art on Architecture”delivered the chief guest address and thanked the students for their participation in “ Mamangam” the cultural fest hosted by them for the entire IIA, Kerala. The guest of honor, Ar.Krishnakumar, Secretary, IIA, Palakkad center & founder of Aryarch architects welcomed the freshmen students and explained about the hard work, creativity and continuous learning that goes into the making of a successful architect. Dr.Radakrishnan, Advisor, NGI felicitated the gathering by focusing on the unique nature of Architecture as a profession. Dr. Gunasekaran, Principal, JCET, offered felicitations and congratulated the organizers for arranging a wonderful function.

Then the Chief guests Ar.Anoop k Nair & Ar. Krishna Kumar gave the certificates & mementos to the students who participated as volunteers for the cultural fest of IIA. Subsequently Chairman sir distributed the mementos to those students who participated in the 100 feet long painting done on occasion of the 75th independence day, that depicted the important achievements of our nation over eight decades. Ar. Keshav Gangadhar, Professor, NCA offered vote of thanks and the program concluded with the national anthem.
